Still goose eggs. 7 mins 1st.

SHSU just picked almost six. SHSU deep in SB territory.

And this game is exactly why I never ranked SHSU above 5. Probably shouldn't have ranked them above 10.

34-27 Final. We played hard, Just couldn't win it at the end. I'm proud of my team. Go Stony Brook!

Indeed very close. We have nothing to feel bad about today. We played great, the team never gave up. Things don't always go your way and ultimately SHSU played better at the end to win Hopefully we compete well next season. Until later guys!

I'm rooting for the Maine Black Bears now, our America East affiliate needs the support!

I really have to give a lot of respect to the Seawolves yall played with so much heart and passion. What a great FCS playoff game. Bowers was loud and packed with the Krazy Kat fans that root on these Bearkats!! There is a reason we earn our championships, and there not handed out. The Bearkat team I watched all year truly did not come out till that last drive. That last drive was my Bearkats imposing their will on the Seawolves.

Frankly I do not understand the hate for Sam being ranked number one. They never lost a game all year, and even with the weak schedule and conference all that they been focused on is one game at a time. What else can you ask for a team but to WIN. But the Seawolves showed some weaknesses that must be taken care of before the next game. Can't wait for next weekends game, because Bowers is going to be Krazy loud. I am ALL IN, Eat' em up KATS!!!

lol... I took a quick look at the BigPurpleFans... Ya seem pretty happy that SBU loss. Hoping that the other team looses doesn't make you a better program, it should be the opposite.

Assuming the Griz take care of UNI, MSU is going to get a lot of hype when they roll SHSU, making the Brawl rematch the biggest Griz/Cat game ever. I might have to find my way to Missoula for that one.

Frankly I do not understand the hate for Sam being ranked number one. They never lost a game all year, and even with the weak schedule and conference all that they been focused on is one game at a time.
It's not hate. It's just experience with I-AA/FCS and paying attention to how conferences do against each other. What will be will be. If Sam Houston wins the national championship then everyone will look back and say, "Gee, I guess they did deserve the #1 seed." But, right now, I think that most hard core FCS fans who really know FCS football are going to think that Sam Houston is way overrated at #1. There's the Southland's record in the playoffs against leagues like the Big Sky and CAA and also how things have gone between the Southland and other autobid conferences this year.

Sam Houston's played two teams from other auto bid conferences. They beat the last place team from the MVC by 14. The average outcome for that team in the MVC was a 20 point loss. And yesterday they beat the champion of the Big South by 7. Maybe we'll look back later and think differently but right now most think of the Big South as one of the weaker FCS leagues. Most are going to think a team really good enough to be seeded at all should handle the Big South champ pretty easily at home.

Meanwhile Central Arkansas got handled by Montana yesterday. And I've got to believe Montana called off the dogs since the final score was only 41-14. It was 31-0 at halftime and 38-0 early in the third quarter. I watched some of it and it looked like men against boys on the lines of scrimmage. In fact I don't know why Montana ever bothered to pass the ball. They didn't have to as UCA's defensive front was totally helpless. I quit watching after it got to be 38 - 0 but it's hard to believe UCA could've outscored Montana 14-3 after that if Montana didn't take its foot off the gas.

All that matters is what actually happens. But right now most experienced and "into it" FCS fans are going to think Sam Houston's going to lose this coming Saturday when it meets its first playoff caliber foe from one of the power conferences. And it's a reasonable expectation right now even if it is proven wrong this Saturday.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

Very good post. and no it's not hate. Perhaps a little bitterness. I watched SHSU catapult to number one over a few short weeks playing absolutely terrible teams. Lamar? Lamar's only wins came against schools that aren't even listed by Yahoo for crying out loud. They're bad division III teams without programs. College of the Incarnate Word? Texas Teacher's College? Gimme' a break. To put them at number one for beating such horrendously bad teams was a total farce and disservice to the FCS. They probably should never have been rated higher than tenth. Reminds me of some of the mid majors that go undefeated and then get absolutely blown out when a real program comes into town. They'll be blown out next week. 42-10
