No, I've got a paper to work on and I think it would be too distracting.

I watched. Found the speech to be delivered well. Definitely had some issues with his proposals. Especially talking about "clean energy." But no mention on nuclear power. Also, Chuck Schumer is such a douche. MSNBC's coverage showed him after Obama said "the deficit we inherited." He stood up, pointed and laughed at the Republicans. It shows that some of the Dems are after revenge and forcing their will in Congress, not doing what's best for the country.

All I will say is, at least it wasn't filled with doom and gloom.

Wasn't able to see the speech, but those are both disapointing to me. Nuclear needs to be pushed.ASUMountaineer wrote:I watched. Found the speech to be delivered well. And Schumer, et all need to get it through their pea brains that Americans are sick of political games.
The Republicans in Congress don't seem to have figured it out yet, and neither do some of the Dems.

Think about it. How many nuclear power plants could we build with $787 billion? How many jobs across the country would that create? How much clean energy would that produce with zero carbon emissions? To me, that sounds like a great domestic energy policy, with a solid stimulus aspect that will create jobs that can't be outsourced.

See, we can bring the people together. This is a fight that should not be drawn on party lines. This could really do so much more than the current pork plan we have.dbackjon wrote:I hear you on this...ASUMountaineer wrote:

No mention of modernizing the transmission grid either, our biggest infrastructure problem, unless it came while I was nodding off.dbackjon wrote:Wasn't able to see the speech, but those are both disapointing to me. Nuclear power has some usefulness as a transitional solution but it ain't the answer long term. All the energy the planet could ever need sits waiting to be taken and we still don't get it.
Schumer's routine was funny I could just hear him saying "In yo face, Addison punkass McConnell!"
Speaking of McConnell, he looked a little dyspeptic, except when one of his aides whispered in his ear that the camera was on him, at which point he began smiling and clapping along.
You matter. Unless you multiply yourself by c squared. Then you energy.

I got updates on Twitter from NPR News...I've just gotten into this Twitter thing, but it's amazing and I totally love it.
