Re: UNI @ Montana...
Um...we have an All American at DT (Buchanan Award list) and an All Conference player on the DL. The 4 upfront eat up the blockers and the LB's make the plays. It's actually a damn good defensive scheme. To allow your LB's to roam the field and make plays is something not a lot of teams have the ability to do.grizcountry420 wrote:Those stats just go to show that the rest of your defense isnt that good and that they are on the field way too much..clenz wrote: UNI's LB's
LJ Fort: 167 tackles, 8.5 TFL, 3PBU's, 1 QBH, 6 FF, 1FR (leading tackler in the nation in total and TPG)
Jordan Smith: 123 tackles, 2.5 TFL, 4 INT, 2PBU's, 1 FR (26th in the nation in tackles
James Conley: 98 tackles, 5.5 TFL, 1 INT, 4 PBU, 4 QBH, 3 FF, 1 FR (89th in the nation in total tackles.
Montana
Caleb McSurdy: 117 tackles, 7 TFL, 3.5 Sacks, 1 INT, 2 PBU, 3 QBH, 2 FF, 1 FR
He is the only Montana player in the top 100. Obviously a great defensive talent though (Very similar to Jordan Smith. ), his numbers are very low the last two games though...is there a reason for that? Injury?.
At the very very worst the DL is a push, but UNI wins the LB's head to head
Re: UNI @ Montana...
Well we have a NFL prospect that could be a first round draft pick.
Lol, it doesn't matter about how one or a few people are playing. It's about how the whole team is playing together.

UNI is giving up 16.6 ppg, Montana 19.8
UNI gives up 343 ypg, Montana 319...pre Woffy game the UNI total was about 330ish.
UNI gives up less points per yard, both defenses are clearly very very good. It isn't like the UNI defense is only the three linebackers.
Re: UNI @ Montana...
The trouble with that example, is that at one time Ryan Leaf was picked number 1 by the NFL too. In fact, Farley who had a pretty good run while at UNI was a walk on. Just saying that opinions matter less.clenz wrote:UNI just had their middle linbacker named FCS Defensive Player of the Year.....FWIW.grizcountry420 wrote:Montana LB's > UNI LB's
Re: UNI @ Montana...
Trumaine is not going in the first round. His combine workout may surprise a lot of people, but I'm thinking 2nd or 3rd at best
Re: UNI @ Montana...
All this bickering is funny. UNI has to come into Missoula and try to win. Possible, but difficult.
The argument about whose players are better is just funny to me. It's fucking Division 1, every player is good.

WG is a tough place to play, but so is New Hampshire (snowstorm), Texas State and Chatty (v App State). All games UNI won or should have won.
UNI is a much better program now.
Also, New Hampshire?
Texas State?
Thought so, now STFU.
Agree, the better team will win. We'll see.
BTW, I've been to Wash Griz and it's a mini D1 stadium and no big wuup. Several of em can fit into places that UNI plays at annually or frequently. Course you fucks wouldn't know because you play a DIII OOC scedule.
It aint that loud either. It's just that everyone is drunk or on drugs. I sure was (on both) the last three times I was there.
Bottom line, all because you love it doesn't mean it aint a fuckin little dump.

Yes, they do have more fans. Better ones too. Still don't mean their stadium is a football garden of eden. It's your run of the mill D1 stadium, big fucking deal. Put a BCS school anywhere in that state and WG would be a glorified high school stadium, like Western Illinois, and no one would give a flying fuck about the Griz.jcu27 wrote:So what you're saying is, Montana has more fans?

If the fans weren't such fucking assholes, I'd rather visit Youngstown's or Texas States' stadium anyday. They aint no Dome, but they're nice.

Post NAU Montana's average is about 10 ppg and under 300 ypg. UNI has seen it's average go UP over the past 5 games, while Montana's is going the other direction in a hurry. This is NOT the same Montana team that gave up big yards at the beginning of the season.clenz wrote: UNI is giving up 16.6 ppg, Montana 19.8

UNI beat an excellent Wofford team last week and can go back to preparing for a more conventional offense, which is huge. If the weather is decent, you'll have problems with UNI's speed.

Really? What? You jokers haven't played shit this year. Your conference sucks, State is overrated and you had a patsy to start the playoffs.Willie wrote:UNI is in for a big surprise in more ways than one.
What's the surprise? UNI regularly plays in more hostile venues than WG. Our schedule is tougher. We played and beat a much tougher first round opponent. We're in the playoffs regularly. We have decent coaches who have been to the NC and multiple semi and quarts. We have fast, tough kids. We're an underdog.
You fuckers might be in for surprise, Willie.

Re: UNI @ Montana...
You did do that. IMO, these teams are pretty evenly matched. You could make a strong argument for either to be the #4 seed. Montana is peaking at the right time and is playing at home so I would lay odds that they would win 6-7 out of 10. Of course UNI has found ways to win all year and Friday night could very easily turn out to be one of those 3-4 (or 2 in your estimation) times that they beat the Griz. Anyone who thinks that UNI stands no chance is a probably still green behind the ears or more than a little daft.Silenoz wrote:lol, hey I said you guys win this 2 games out of 10!D1B wrote:
