Liberty @ Montana
A Liberty player tweeted that the Flames will be playing at Montana next year. After watching the crowd at Wa-Griz tonight against Northern Iowa, I am excited to make the trip. I can't help but think we could be playing against the defending FCS champs next September.

Perfect. Getting App State on the road when they're rebuilding, then two lower tier FCS schools at home to round out the OOC schedule.

Well, assuming the game is at Wa/Griz in 2012 and return trip in '13 or '14, I just might take you up on that, knucklehead.Knucklehead wrote:Not sure Manson, but that would be awesome. I would love to see AZ in Lynchburg at Williams Stadium. I hopoe this turns out to be true.

Re: Liberty @ Montana
A number of us are already working out details to try and fly up. I haven't been to Missoula in a decade but I'm anxious get back up there for a few days. Obviously we'll be just a couple of games into our new coach's era whoever that turns out to be.
Supposedly the return date to Lynchburg would be in 2015. Hopefully we'll be FBS by then and you guys will be glad to have us on the schedule.

Nice bit of scheduling .
Re: Liberty @ Montana
Liberty would be wise to have demanded the first game of this series to be in Lynchburg. Montana has a history of backing out of return games - just ask Cal-Poly.

Everyone at Liberty who knows anything about this knows that it is a bad deal for Liberty. It's great to play an FCS opponent of this caliber, but there is no way Montana will honor this contract by the time '15 rolls around. It will not be beneficial for either team by then.

12 game schedule next year, correct?
Which means we still might have a DII lined up ><

and how many games has Montana backed out of since the deficit was paid off? Just ask Cal Poly.....JayBilasBitesPillows wrote:Liberty would be wise to have demanded the first game of this series to be in Lynchburg. Montana has a history of backing out of return games - just ask Cal-Poly.

Re: Liberty @ Montana
All Montana games with Cal Poly were played. I think only one was moved to a later year. UM bought only a game against Hofstra and a game against a Dakota school, is my recollection, and both of these occurred after UM figured out the athletic department had a million dollar deficit. UM played one game at Hofstra, and Hoftstra came to Missoula twice.

This could be a good matchup although I think Liberty will be a little down next season. They just lost their head coach
to Richmond and graduation wil take away some of their best and seasond players.

...and look at what that buy out did to Hofstra. It forced them to drop football.GrizFan5 wrote:All Montana games with Cal Poly were played. I think only one was moved to a later year. For what it is worth, LU is now confirming the September 15th matchup. I'm checking flight deals as we speak. I love me some Bitterroot Valley time.

I hope so. @ App State, home against Liberty and home against South Dakota is a damned fine OOC schedule IMHO.Sly Fox wrote:For what it is worth, LU is now confirming the September 15th matchup. I'm checking flight deals as we speak. I love me some Bitterroot Valley time.

I see 2-2 or 3-1 out of that. Only guaranteed loss there is the Griz. The only other game on that list I see Liberty even remotely losing is Lehigh. Wake may as well be Sun Belt/C-USA/MAC for football.Sly Fox wrote:Liberty's 1st 4 games in 2012:

Putter, you don't expect a guy that didn't even know about football or FCS contracts until a couple of years ago to know those answers do ya? He's just picking up on things he's heard others say so let him try and find his way slowly and learn about things at his own pace.putter wrote:and how many games has Montana backed out of since the deficit was paid off? ODU would leap at the chance to just come here and see what it is they hope to be someday.
