I am. I grew up in a town that was focused on cross country and track. We had 100+ boys on our track team and multiple national champions. I also ran and threw in high school.

Albany has a great track program for a northeast school and flat out dominates the America East.

My nephew was an NCAA champion last year so I followed the indoor and outdoor season closely.

My niece runs for Hawaii so I'll be following the West coast region this year.

I assume your nephew is preparing for Olympic trials. Did he sign with someone and is he doing some heptathlons this indoor season?

I attended the USA Track and Field Level 1 Coaching School this past weekend just outside of Fresno. Pretty cool stuff, and some great coaches teaching some outstanding stuff. Jeremy Fischer (Chula Vista Olympic Traning Center) did a great job on the jumps, and Matt Lydum (throws coach at Defiance University) was a laugh riot.

I hope Sac does well, but I'll be focusing on the spring. I'm the assistant pole vault coach at my alma mater.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Sac was picked to finish 1st and 2nd in women's and men's BSC respectively. I haven't posted it on Sac Buzz yet but a Hornetsports article was posted earlier in the week. The picks are pretty surprising considering we graduated a lot of our heavy hitters from a year ago. I guess we are that deep for T&F.

Distance stuff. For indoor I think it’s the 3k & 5k and distance medley. Outdoor I think she has run the 1500 as well as the distance events.

UNI's first indoor event of the season is tomorrow, and it is at home in the dome.

Cowbell Guidelines and Rules:
1) Ring your bell to help cheer the Panthers onto victory
2) Please refrain from ringing your bell while athletes are preparing to begin a race. A quite start allows for a fair start.
3) Be sure to ring your bell extra loud during the final lap, known as the bell lap. The louder you are the faster we run, further we throw, and higher we jump.
4) Only ring the bell at UNI Track & Field meets. NCAA rules prohibit noise makers at other sporting events (basketball, football, volleyball, etc.).
