I just find it comical that while the NBA is trying to help the Hornets they are in fact actually hurting them in the long run. :ohno:

Having the trade been blocked for 24 hours now I do see the point that the commisioner's office has the right to make decisions for the Hornets organization and make decisions that are in the best interest of the franchise but blocking this trade was NOT in the best interest of this franchise. The Hornets would have been the primary winners of this trade if it wasn't blocked. Also Demps was in constant contact with the NBA throughtout all the trade discussions and not once did they say anything. In other words, I'm calling BS on the fact that the NBA is saying that the owners DID NOT have any influence on Stern to veto the trade.
David Stern has to go. I think he's lost it.
He really does, I think this past offseason he has shown his age...in other words, he's starting to become senile.

Proof that the NBA is a joke (at least to me) was when I started watching Kentucky vs. Indiana today. The passion involved with that game was through the roof. The buzzer shot to win the game and the fans storming the court. Nothing in the NBA could top that.

If Phil Jackson were still coaching the Lakers I think this would have been a bad trade for Paul simply because of the triangle offense is where point guards go to die.

Now it's being reported the latest Paul deal has again met an untimely death because the NBA is asking the Clippers for too much in return.

How the NBA will make any profit selling the Hornets is a mystery. They look destined to lose Paul for nothing in free agency this summer. Way to hold out for the best deal boys.

Any good college games on instead?

You should do the same. They notice, trust me. College basketball and the NBA have lost over 20% of their audience since 1999. Didn't someone liken David Stern to a slave owner? So apparently there are a lot of people that feel the same way that you do.
The comparison to a slave owner was a terrible comparison.
What, you're saying slaves weren't paid millions of dollars to play a game and have the right to choose where they want to work via free agency? :-?

Right now I'd watch a SWAC game over an NBA game.

Can you say Bryant Gumble????I will watch the Knicks simply because they picked up a young kid from Hampton University named Devin Green a 6-7 athletic small forward that can play in their uptempo system

Paul wanted out of NO so bad he really didn't care where, I guess. This is a case of "Be careful what you wish for; you just might get it." I'm almost the worst basketball player in the history of basketball, and I wouldn't wish the Clip Show (under current ownership) on my worst enemy. Kaman and the others just got their freedom!

Things may be changing in Clipper-Land. They won the sweepstakes for Billips after he was amnestied from the Knicks so maybe ownership is loosening up the purse strings. They will need to if they want to resign Paul after this year as this trade happened without Paul signing an extension. My feeling is that this is a one year shot and Paul will be in New York (Knicks or Nets) next year.

Maybe the Clippers wanted to be better than the Lakers for one year.

Lakers are going to be bad this year. Injured Kobe and a disgruntled Gasol. No playoffs, IMO. Timberwolves look promising, watched a preseason game. Rookies Malcolm Lee, Derrick Williams and Ricky Rubio all looked good. Love has lost baby-fat and put on some muscle and his outside shot looks better. Beasley looks more under control with his haircut and his new jedi personal advisor Norm Nixon. Barea will be a great addition. Might actually win over 20 games this year.

First off, name 8 teams better than L.A.L. in the west. :?

I'd probably say that Dallas, Memphis, Portland, Denver, Oklahoma City, San Antonio and the Clippers are good bets to make the playoffs. Who's left, then? The Lakers, and a bunch of teams like Phoenix (not happening), Golden State (not happening), Sacramento (not happening), Minnesota (not happening). The only other teams that could push LA out west might be New Orleans and Houston. I still think the Lakers will be just fine. Not as fine as they were 2 years ago, but still playoff-worthy.

The Wolves look exciting, but don't confuse fast-paced offense with the ability to defend good teams well enough to win. I don't see the Wolves surviving their division with 20 wins. It could happen. I'm not trying to rain on your parade, but the Wolves don't match up well with anyone in the NW division.

OKC- who guards Durant or Westbrook? Rubio/Barea/Ridnour will get eaten alive by Westbrook and nobody guards Durant well, so OKC should waltz all over Minny.

Denver- They like to run as much as Minnesota. Maybe the Wolves surprise the Nuggets once or twice, but I don't really see it happening.

Portland- I like the Blazers' roster this year, even without Oden. LaMarcus Aldridge has made mincemeat of K-Love in the past (and should have been in the All-Star Game over Love last year), plus Portland has an insane amount of quality wings to guard the Wolves' perimeter guys with.

I've been a Lakers fan for over 40 years and without Kobe or Lamar, a soft Gasol, an oft injured Bynum, I just don't see the lakers in the playoffs. I'm not a wolves fan, but they are the local team and they should be fun to watch this year.

TWolves will be most improved team in the NBA this season. KLove is becoming one of the games best and Rubio should really help. If Derrek Williams has a solid rookie year, I can see the TWolves getting the 8th seed.

Retarded idea.

And the Lakers are in trouble this year. The Odom trade was a total knee jerk reaction that will continually screw them this season. Unless somehow they can land Howard, this season will be pretty awful.

Oh, and they will probably make the playoffs (low seed as it looks now), half of the fucking NBA teams get into the playoffs for fuck sakes.

66 game season changes the playoff picture IMO, a slump could cost a team a 6,7, or 8 spot.

30 points and 20 rebounds tonight. Gotta Love that. By the way, he clanked the game tying basket off the back of the rim at the end. Stats will get you in to the All-Star game, wins will get you in the playoffs. Take your pick, Wolves fans.

He also made at team record 19 Free Throws to help keep the game within reach. 25 (29 points by Bucks) turnovers by the Wolves to 12 (9 points by Wolves) by the Bucks didn't help things out.

Aldridge is a great player, and will make his All-Star game eventually, but I'm sure each would rather have team success than any individual honors. Lots of Portland influence on the Wolves right now with the coaching staff and Love going to High School in the Portland area.
