LSU and Alabama have clearly separated themselves from the pack. Both will return a whole bunch of talent next year. Arkansas and Georgia are the outsiders looking in. Don't see either of the newbies factoring in... but, who knows.

If you mean the west coast version, then maybe. But most likely Oregon.DSUrocks07 wrote:USC

2012 is meaningless. The 2013 season FBS national champion will come from the Big East Western Division.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Unless Michigan joins the SEC in the next few months then none of them. 2012 the Year of Denard.

Early favorites going into next year, from what I'm reading are:griz37 wrote:Unless Michigan joins the SEC in the next few months then none of them. 2012 the Year of Denard.
USC
LSU
Georgia

The winner of Alabama-Michigan is not going to win the title and should not be considered favorites, IMO. Their conferences are simply too good for them to run the table. Michigan's not getting through the Big 10 unscathed. They will likely lose to one of Notre Dame (not Big 10, I know), Nebraska, or Ohio State. Book it. Alabama simply loses too much on defense in terms of experience for me to totally buy in. Remember, they were picked to win it all the year after they beat Texas and lost 3 games.clenz wrote:Early favorites going into next year, from what I'm reading are:griz37 wrote:Unless Michigan joins the SEC in the next few months then none of them. 2012 the Year of Denard.

USC, LSU, Georgia, Arkansas (you read that right), and Oklahoma should be on the short list for next year.

OSU won't be much better, if at all, than they were this year.
Notre Dame won't be better
Nebraska...not sure on them.
Oklahoma (outside of Georgia) is the most under-achieving team in college football.

Ok, and I am predicting they'll overachieve. I just don't get why people harp on OU all the time. Seriously, they win 10 games every year and it's never good enough. Not for their fans, not for their rivals' fans, not for Joe Schmoe.clenz wrote:OSU won't be much better, if at all, than they were this year.

Notre Dame absolutely will be better. This is another year into Brian Kelly's scheme for them, they host Michigan, and they will be better on defense.
Ohio State returns 18 starters from a team dominated by freshmen and sophomores and you say they will be a 6-win team with Urban Meyer replacing Luke Fickell. Their non-conference schedule is 4 easy wins, plus they have 4 more home games in B10 play. Come on. The head man in football, especially college, is very important to winning and losing. Urban is at least 3 wins per year better than Fickell, IMO. K-State was the worst program in college football until they got Bill Snyder. Then (and now) they're became a solid team? Coincidence? Nope.
