The Patriots earned this win, though I question why Brady and the star receivers stayed in the game as long as they did. The risks after the game was out of reach were astronomical. Can you imagine the Patriots without Brady? Cassel is gone, and they don't have Matt Flynn....

Don't go bashing Tebow, though. As the commentators pointed out, he's just finished what is essentially one complete season as a starting QB, and his record sits him in some good company. Or did you h8rs miss that graphic? Get him a full training camp as a starter with a decent OL and some receivers other than Decker (who missed the game due to injury, which the h8rs ALSO conveniently forget about), and we'll see what the team can do.

You're not qualified to make that call. The Steelers cut John Unitas, who went on to the Colts, where he became a HOFer. The Chargers gave up on Drew Brees, and he's likely going to be in the Hall when all is said and done. High school coaches cut OJ Simpson and Michael Jordan, and they're both in their respective HOFs. And you're going to say that Tebow sucks after 16 games, especially when he has a better record after that time than the likes of Eli Manning? You're insane.

Yes I am going to say that after 16 games. He is a horrible QB and only gets attention because of people like you. :kisswink:

He may have been one back when one could run the option in the NFL, how many years ago was that? Today, never ever. He cannot throw. He cannot make decisions. He cannot pick up a blitz. He loses track of the back side blitzer often.

Tebow is not a QB and he will never be among the top 25 QBs in any season statistically... don't matter if its his 3rd season or 13th season. He sucks as a QB.

Tebow is a product of the news media. What I like about him, is that he continue's to be himself, despite all the hate and media attention. He stands for something he believes in, and people that don't stand for what they believe in, tend to fall for anything.

And how many QBs can after one freaking season?!? There's a reason Darryle Lamonica was bailed out by a guy in his 40s in 1970. It takes time to develop that ability. To expect every QB who comes along to do that from the get-go is unrealistic at best and subjective at worst.

Right, not all players come into the league as starters ready to win championships. However those that develop into that usually have some base talent to work off of. Tebow doesn't. He is just bad.

Yep. That's why he proven he can make plays. Sure, it has been ugly at times but it's not like he hasn't done a single thing while playing

Shit, even bad players make occasional plays. Look at Mark Sanchez, twice into the AFC Championship game and he is horrible.

So Tebow can't pick up a jailbreak blitz? What QB can?

You build into your offense various protections schemes. One of those is a hot read, where you designate ONE inbound defender for whom the QB is responsible, with a designated receiver to get the ball RIGHT NOW. But that system breaks down when the ENTIRE FREAKING O'LINE CAVES. If you expect the QB to be responsible for THAT and still be able to read the coverage, then you have no business watching football because you're expecting the impossible.

Perhaps you should have watched more than the last game SH. Tebow gets burned if he is forced to throw the ball. You know, if running the ball isn't working, it is the other option.

grizza,

It seems that you're forgetting LAST week. Tebow CAN throw if he's given time AND the receivers actually get open and catch the ball. Just like any other NFL QB. Tebow's main problems are that he has no OL to speak of in terms of pass pro and no receivers beyond Decker and Thomas. His supposed "accuracy" issues? At least one commentator has already stated that THAT is a refusal to throw an interception. That is, if there appears to be an issue of whether or not he can get it there, he'll throw it away. That's in stark contrast to a certain is he or isn't he retired player who would constantly force it and throw picks all day long.

The problem is that SOME people can't abide a running quarterback. The same questions came up when Staubach, Tarkenton, Cunningham, and Young came along. People want to see a guy just stand there and take punishment all day long. Not every guy is like that. Sorry. Just not human nature. Quarterbacks aren't robots. Remember that Tebow's ascendancy took place during the course of the regular season. Give him a full training camp as the designated starter with control of a FULL playbook and a decent roster, and he can be successful. The option becomes what it's supposed to be: one tool among a bunch in the tool box, not the entire basis of the offense. One thing they'll probably see in the NE film is that NE was stuffing speed option. If they switch to an I-formation based option (or at least the APPEARANCE of the triple option) so that the defense has to defend the dive BEFORE they overwhelm the pitch (perhaps even throwing in the G option where one pulls the front-side guard or a load option (either skipping the dive so the FB takes out the EMOL or using Power I or a winged I to take out the EMOL) and a lot of the issues the Broncos experienced would go away. Again, when the option can be used as a tool alongside dive, stretch, power, toss sweep, and a full-fledged passing game, it can be successful so long as the expectations are correct. That means one expects 5-12 yards each time as opposed to the 50 yards Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas used to get. Did anyone see how the SF game ended? It was a full-fledged QB sweep that came off of what was nearly option action. That's very similar to what Denver's been doing. Why? Alex Smith and Tim Tebow had the same college coach. Thus, it stands to reason that they have similar capabilities. Remember that people were howling for Smith's head for seven years before this year's success happened. If he can have success after that kind of time, Tebow deserves the same courtesy.

Coaches tend to recruit people with certain capabilities to fit their system. Certainly that varies. But at least they understand and can learn to do what the coach is trying to do. Either that or they're gone. If you can't accept that a QB can be successful after a time of struggle, you don't know your history very well.

Have you watched any of his games? His low incompletion % isnt from throwing passes away all day, its from bad throws.
