The Bucs had one final surprise left in their marathon head coaching search.
According to multiple reports, the Bucs plan to hire Rutgers coach Greg Schiano if terms of a contract can be reached.
Schiano was a surprise finalist for the Bucs job along with Mike Sherman and Panthers offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski.

Thank FSM Chip is staying put.

Rumors on TSN and the News Journal (Wilmington, DE) that KC Keeler could be considered for the Rutgers job. I doubt there's much behind it, but if he happened to leave I wouldn't shed a tear.

I'm happy about this, as it means the Panthers keep Chud.tampajag wrote:The Bucs had one final surprise left in their marathon head coaching search.

If Rutgers was smart, they'd hire Pat Flaherty (OLine coach for the Giants).
RU grad and very intertwined with the NJ high school football community - which is key to building Rutgers beyond what Schiano did.
Rutgers was about to get some of the best recruits in the nation this year from NJ because of Schiano's relationship with guys like Greg Toal at Don Bosco. Flaherty would continue that.

I can't blame Schiano for making the move - but man could he have left RU at a worse time for recruiting purposes? 6 days before NLI day throws what might've been one of the best classes RU ever got into a class that will probably be 2/3 the way down in the Big East after some of the better kids go elsewhere.
