my thoughts on this year's super bowl are pretty close to the thoughts of many east-coasters in regards to last year's World Series.

Re: SUPER BOWL!
In spite of the fact that the Patriots caught some breaks in beating the Ravens I think it's the best team in the AFC playing, at best, the fourth best team in the NFC. I think the Giants have had a magical ride with everything going their way. I didn't watch the Packers game but I think they'd have had pretty close to zero chance of winning the NFC championship game if they'd have had to go to New Orleans. But the Saints turned the ball over 5 times and lost a close one to the 49ers. Then the 49ers, after winning because of the spate of Saint turnovers, handed the NFC championship game to the Giants with turnovers of their own.
I think the Patriots win this by a comfortable margin. They're the better team, I think, by a pretty good bit and they're not having to face the best team the NFC has to offer.

LMAO this sounds EXACTLY like 2007. The best team doesn't always win. This isn't the NBA.I think the Patriots win this by a comfortable margin. They're the better team, I think, by a pretty good bit and they're not having to face the best team the NFC has to offer.

Re: SUPER BOWL!
I agree completely that the best team doesn't always win. That's one reason why anybody who tries to pick a lot of football games gets a lot wrong. But the better team does win most of the time.LMAO this sounds EXACTLY like 2007. The best team doesn't always win. This isn't the NBA.
Sometimes really weird, totally unexplainable things happen. One that always sticks out in my mind is a game between the 49ers and the Eagles in 1994/1995. When all was said and done it was clear that the 49ers were the best team in the NFL that year. They finished 16-3 and two of their losses were by 7 points. Beat the Chargers 49-26 in the Super Bowl. But that third loss was weird. The Eagles beat them 40-8.
Sometimes when the better team loses one can see a reason for it. Like the Saints were -4 in the turnover margin stat against the 49ers. But in that 1994 49ers/Eagles game the Eagles just totally dominated the game in every facet. Just on that day, I guess, they were ready to play and were well prepared while the 49ers must not have been. But the better team...by far...not only lost. They got stomped.

Re: SUPER BOWL!
So what are the Patriots now in Superbowls where it's not known that they cheated? Is it 0-3 or 0-4?

Awesome that the Giants win the game on a play where they tried hard NOT to score - there was less effort offensively and defensively on that play than there was in the ProBowl...

Now wait just one New York minute. I watched the game closely to see whether South Dakota or Stephen F. Austin would win and how.
Or was that South Dakota State or Houston Baptist?
Montana St or UT San Antonio?

What's "a lot"? I'm around .780 in picking I-AA games over the past several years and only missed three playoff games this year picking the whole bracket at the start of the playoffs. That's "a lot" better than your computer models who you still won't put up to the challenge.JohnStOnge wrote:That's one reason why anybody who tries to pick a lot of football games gets a lot wrong.
