This is my second year as a volunteer for the UNI Panther Scholarship Club fund drive. Last year we raised over $1 million towards scholarships.

Despite what fuck head has had to say, WCU athletics fundraising is known as The Catamount Club. We are in the process of raising our various levels of contribution starting with the 2009-2010 academic year.

The levels of the Catamount Club are as follows:

1) Champions Club - $11,500.00 for 4 consecutive years (funds an athlete's scholarship each year for 4 yrs)
2) I.C.A.T.S. - $5,000.00 for 5 consecutive years
3) Varsity Club - $3,000.00 yearly
4) Coaches Club - $1,850.00 yearly
5) Cullowhee Cat - $1,250.00 yearly
6) Top Cat - $750.00 yearly
7) Super Cat - $400.00 yearly
8) Purple Cat - $200.00 yearly
9) Catamount - $100.00 yearly

I started giving yearly back in 2004 and now WCU is going to start a point system based on yearly monies given, years given and whether you are a season ticket holder or not. I gave at Top Cat level for 2008-09, but am going up to either Cullowhee Cat or Coaches Club level for 2009-10. Coaches level and above get their own personalized numbered parking spot in the Stadium Lot outside the west side of E.J.Whitmire Stadium.

Our director is Gorham Bradley who is also our men's golf coach. Believe me, having your golf coach as your fundraising director is a good thing. He has been asst.golf pro at the Sapphire Valley Country Club before and has made contacts with the right people aka CA-CHING in the Sapphire/Cashiers area of North Carolina.

These old retirees are all Florida or Georgia alums, but love the WCU golf team and Gorham to boot and have made significant contributions to WCU athletics within the last few years. WCU is rumored to unveil a brand new video scoreboard for 2009 thanks to several of these benefactors. I hope it happens.

Again, despite Appaholic's constant diatribe, we're gonna be just fine in Cullowhee.

How much do you have to give before you get a ringside seat at Wagner's boxing match?

How about to participate in the Catamount celebrity wrestling match?

Does that include the purse signed by the football team?

Montana's GSA will contribute over 1.3M for scholarships this year. The UM athletic department generates over 70% of it's funding, with less than 30% coming from institutional funding. The Big Sky Conference's stated "goal" for member schools is 50/50. And UM does this without a lot of the revenue that other schools get such as concessions from athletic events, etc. Those funds to to the university administration.

I am staying at the top cat level for '09-10 thanks to the new numbered parking that WCU is going to. My entire tailgating crew is dropping back to either top cat or cullowhee cat since we stand a small chance of not being able to park together due to the new numbered lots. Oh well, I'll save a few bucks and my home tickets are already ordered. Gotta get road tix for EKU and App.
