Why not north of Delaware? You got some lonely members up in Maine and New Hampshire...lolSirloinburger wrote:We need a few more schools south of ODU to fill that empty void. Because they want it to be a totally Southern based league.SeawolvesFan90 wrote:Why not north of Delaware? South = athletic snobbery
North = academic snobbery
What's a school like Maine or UNH to do?

I think Yeager is very much aware of the northern situation. Stony Brook and Fordham would be great additions.
I also think Hofstra and NE should revisit football.

Fordham isn't going anywhere now that the Patriot league is offering scholarships.Sirloinburger wrote:I think Yeager is very much aware of the northern situation. Stony Brook and Fordham would be great additions.

Stony Brook And Albany are the Northern options now. Both make a whole lot of sense if the CAA wants to expand North. Either football affiliates or all-sport members.

But Albany doesn't offer full scholarship for football yet... Wouldn't they have to move up first?danefan wrote:Fordham isn't going anywhere now that the Patriot league is offering scholarships.Sirloinburger wrote:I think Yeager is very much aware of the northern situation. I would be pleased seeing Albany, Maine, SBU, and UNH in the same football conference. It would be fantastic.
How does a North/South Division CAA sound for the rest of you guys? would that be a good idea, or a terrible one?

I don't think it a prerequisite that Albany get to 63 to get a CAA offer.SeawolvesFan90 wrote:But Albany doesn't offer full scholarship for football yet... Wouldn't they have to move up first?danefan wrote:

Albany has been financially ready to offer the additional 23 scholarships immediately. Right or wrong, the AD thought it was best to wait until we had a conference to play in and the Big South wasn't an attractive option when offered a few years ago.

Uh oh, looks like the CAA is jealous of the NDSU BISON and the MVFC's success and is trying desperately to reload. Face it, your best days are best you, and with the exodus of UMass you're libel to never make another semi-finals

Re: CCU to the CAA?
It's pretty obvious that CAA FB isn't interested in expanding with anything other than existing CAA members, at least for the time being. So unless the CAA decides to expand its league to 14 members and bring in 2 members with full scholarship FB programs & strong Olympic sports programs, there will not likely be any expansion of CAA FB.
Non-CAA members applying for membership to CAA FB must receive the approval of 3/4 of all CAA members, in addition to CAA FB members. Just something to think about.

Re: CCU to the CAA?
I completely agree. The point to expand has passed. Unless some additional schools leave for FBS, I don't see any reason for the CAA to add anyone.henfan wrote:It's pretty obvious that CAA FB isn't interested in expanding with anything other than existing CAA members, at least for the time being. Re: CCU to the CAA?
I think you may be right, Danefan. It's also possible that CAA FB could expand if, say, GMU or VCU adopted FB programs. If CAA FB membership dropped perilously below 7 members that would be the most likely scenario for the conference to look at non-CAA schools for FB membership.
