This Is Gonna Leave A Mark: US Soldier Slaughters 16 Afghans

Updated at 10 a.m. ET: KANDAHAR, Afghanistan -- A U.S. service member killed at least 15 members of two Afghan families as well as a 16th person before turning himself in, witnesses and officials said Sunday. Nine of the dead were children, and three were women, Afghan President Hamid Karzai said in a statement.

The soldier, who has yet to be identified, reportedly left his base in the early hours Sunday and went to two villages just a few hundred yards away. He then opened fire on Afghan civilians sleeping in ther homes, Minister of Border and Tribal Affairs Asadullah Khalid told Reuters. The service member entered three homes in the villages in Kandahar province, he said.

Twelve of the dead were from Balandi, said Samad Khan, adding that 11 were from his family, including women and children. Khan was away from the village when the incident occurred. One of his neighbors was also killed, he said.
"This is an anti-human and anti-Islamic act," said Khan. "Nobody is allowed in any religion in the world to kill children and women."
Khan demanded that Karzai punish the American shooter.
"Otherwise we will make a decision," said Khan. "He should be handed over to us."
Four people reportedly killed in the neighboring village were also from a single family, said a female relative who was shouting in anger. She did not give her name because of the conservative nature of local society.

"No Taliban were here. No gunbattle was going on," said the woman. "We don't know why this foreign soldier came and killed our innocent family members. Either he was drunk or he was enjoying killing civilians."

American and NATO officials apologized for Sunday's shootings. (OH DON'T DO THAT, THAT THERE'S UH-PEAZ-MENT!)

The American Embassy in Kabul said in a statement that it was "saddened by this violent act against our Afghan friends."
"The United States extends its deepest condolences to the families of the victims of today’s tragic shooting incident," the statement said. "We assure the people of Afghanistan that the individual or individuals responsible for this act will be identified and brought to justice."

Obviously took inspiration from W, Reagan, McVeigh, Limbaugh, Cheney and Rovey. The culture of ConkHate has deep tentacles in the military and in our police forces. Think this soldier went postal listening to Rachel Maddow???

:ohno: :ohno: :ohno: :ohno:

See, Conks, the problem here is that, now, our President (yeah, that black guy) has to manage this shit. And, there ain't no pretty way out of this.

How would Gingrich handle it? Santucci?

Thanks a lot, Conkunism in America.

That was really not necessary, Cap'n. I'll bet you anything the guy's just a head-case like Jared Loughner(sp?) and that there's nothing political or personal or racial here.

You know, Pownsy, I thought about deleting that part, but then I thought of Sandra Fluke crying every morning over her ordeal and I said to myself, "You know what? Fvck the Conks".

Fluke is probably spending her mornings interviewing for a cushy Washington jobs and thinking about how to spend the money from her book deal. Wouldn't worry about her.

One difference between us and the people we are fighting against. We will actually hold this guy accountable. The Afghans would just say "Opps it happened, we don't know where he is" and sweep it under the rug. I in no way condone this man's actions and he will spend time just down the freeway from where I was stationed. Ft Leavenworth won't be a fun place to spend the rest of his life if he even gets to live. My guess would be, if convicted, he will get the death penalty and should if he did it. :twocents:

This is a two-fer. 16 primitives are dead and a psychopath has been identified and will never again see the light of day. What's the problem here? I don't see one.

Seriously, you are a disgrace to humanity. Condoning attacks on innocent civilians in which some were children is below pathetic. :ohno:

This is terrific timing. :pissed:

I know it'll never happen, but I would have no problem getting this guy through a court-martial in about three days, hanging him at noon, and allowing it all to be broadcast live on Afghan TV.

Give him a fair trial. If he simply went insane, then he doesn't deserve death. If he's found to be a psychopath in a soldier's uniform, then death is fitting. All I hope is that the verdict isn't influenced by international politics.

I really hope the suspect soldier's name isn't Himey Goldberg or Sol Rothstein or something similar. That would make the backlash extra special.

Unfortunately atrocities have been committed by a minute fraction of our troops in all our our past wars, sometimes not reported. Doesn't change the fact that 99+% of our troops wouldn't do something like this.

The guy certainly should be up for if not the death penalty, at least life in prison.

Its a war.......nobody is innocent.

This is why soon we will lose our position in the world........all of you have gone soft. I will wait until I hear his side of the story before making any judgement......after all he is one of us and more than likely hes getting railroaded in a foreign country.

Your right. Nobody is innocent. And im sure he has his side of the story. Just like Tim McVeigh had his side of the story, or Jeffery Dahmer...personally I feel that a bullet between the eyes is too good for this "soldier". Also the fact that he was too fuckin stupid to not cover up his crime better is what pisses me off. He left his base on his own to do this, why not wait for being on a patrol team, claiming that you saw a civie aiming a rifle at your team is a MUCH better cover story...wouldn't be the first time the US military used it. Too stupid for the uniform.
