Re: Manning picks Broncos
Rumors are swirling about the size of Manning's contract with the Broncos. Just one problem: apparently, it's missing one very important feature -- his signature. Right now, the Broncos' website only mentions that Smell-Way is meeting with Manning, not that he's signed. Additionally, the Broncos seem to have only one quarterback under contract: Tebow. At least, only Tebow is listed on the Broncos' depth chart.
They better get this thing done quick! It's almost time for mini-camp.

Re: Manning picks Broncos
No, I didn't. I said he would be better in Seattle than he was in Minnesota, and that he would be a serviceable stop-gap QB until we could find a franchise QB. And despite no offseason with the team, despite his injury, massive OL injuries, and Sidney Rice missing the second half of the season, TJax WAS better than he was in Minnesota. Granted not by a lot, but he was better despite playing behind a seive OL and being injured himself for over half the season.clenz wrote:Being better than he was with the Vikes means moving from the 31st best starter in the league to the 30th.
You tried, hard, to convince me he was an above average (borderline good) starter in the NFL but the Vikings just didn't give him a fair shot.
He got his shot, and still sucked shit.
But it's okay Clenzy. Continue on with your hatefest tantrum.

Not too shabby.

OK. The Broncos have posted the story, but they haven't updated the roster yet. What's taking their SID so long?!?

Settle Down, Pooh Bear. Who cares about the roster, you know he's going and will be the QB. It sure as hell won't be Tim "The Messiah" Tebow.SuperHornet wrote:OK. The Broncos have posted the story, but they haven't updated the roster yet. What's taking their SID so long?!?

This is a huge bet on a guy who has had three neck surgeries in the past 18 months. I wouldn't be so quick to trade Tebow. They say he's a great clubhouse guy. So as long as Tebow being the understudy doesn't disrupt the clubhouse, I'd hedge my bet on an aging superstar coming back from a very serious injury and keep Tebow around.

For the best entertainment value, the Eagles should pick up Tebow.

Not sure what your point is. You don't think Tebow is a good enough backup? The guy did take the Broncs to the playoffs last year. I don't understand what the rush is to run him out of town. I'd be happy to have a guy holding the clipboard like Tebow. A guy coming off three neck surgeries in 18 months is an injury risk. I'd be sure to have a guy like Tebow around just in case.travelinman67 wrote:'kay...bad enough the Broncos are signing Manning, but now they're trading Tebow?????JoltinJoe wrote:This is a huge bet on a guy who has had three neck surgeries in the past 18 months. Re: Manning picks Broncos
Tebow wouldn't be holding the clipboard.
ASSUMING that Manning passes his physical AND wins the starting job during training camp (#1 is nowhere near a given, though #2 is probably contingent upon #1), Tebow would be no lower than second string. Assuming the Broncos sign a third QB (most teams do nowadays), the THIRD stringer carries the clipboard while the main backup signals in plays (if the QBs coach doesn't do it or if they use both so as to have a decoy), particularly when the helmet phones go on the blink.
Additionally, Tebow would have to keep himself loose. Even with Manning in town, they'd have to be crazy not to send Tebow in occasionally to take advantage of his speed.
That said, the rest of Joe's point is well taken.

Tebow is not a good enough backup. He didn't take the Broncos anywhere. Matt Prater took them to the playoffs.JoltinJoe wrote:Not sure what your point is. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d8 ... line_stack" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; If you're a person still holding out hope you'll get more mileage out of that Tim Tebow Broncos jersey you bought in January, you might want to stop reading right now.
At the gleeful chucklefest that was the Peyton Manning introductory press conference, you'd be hard-pressed to find any reminders of Tebowmania.
That's because all the action photos of Tebow that once adorned the hallways at the Broncos' team facility were removed, according to The Associated Press.
Asked Tuesday if Tebow would be traded, Broncos executive vice president John Elway said, "It is a possibility, and he knows that's a possibility."
Something tells us "possibility" wasn't the accurate wording here. "Certainty" would probably be more genuine. "Are you serious? We already moved his stuff into a cardboard box!" would also work.
These are not high times for Timothy Richard Tebow.

And who was it that put the Broncos in a position for Prater to work his magic?Vidav wrote:Tebow is not a good enough backup. He didn't take the Broncos anywhere. Matt Prater took them to the playoffs.JoltinJoe wrote:

Besides, looking back at the Broncos scoring last year, that POV appears to be a myth. The vast majority of Denver's scoring plays were touchdowns, albeit coming late. And that was ESPECIALLY true in the playoffs, where the winning score in the Wild Card game against Pittsburgh was an 80-yard pass to Damarius Thomas on the first play. Did you forget THAT, Vidav?!?

I didn't say that he never contributed to scoring a TD.

I would disagree. I think Tebow is an ideal and capable backup.Vidav wrote:Tebow is not a good enough backup. He didn't take the Broncos anywhere. Matt Prater took them to the playoffs.JoltinJoe wrote:

No ego. Good locker-room guy who has the respect of his teammates. When necessary, comes up the bench and can provide leadership. If inserted into a game, presents a radically different skill set which presents unique challenges to the defense. If the defense has prepared all week to deal with a drop-back, pocket QB, the defense could be unprepared for Tebow when he comes in. If the D takes time during the week to prepare for Tebow, in the event of an injury to the starter, that takes prep time away from preparing for the first-team offensive scheme.
In any event, he's going to the Jets, and he will start.
My prediction: Jets make playoffs, Broncos don't.

The Broncos will win their division easily with Manning. No other team is good enough. New England will win their division and the Jets wont be good enough for a wild card.
