Re: Manning picks Broncos
Sorry to burst your bubble, you Tebow-haters. Timmy is still a Bronco, at least for the time being. The supposed deal with the Jets (Tebow and a 7th rounder this year for a 4th and a 6th) has hit a snag over language in Tebow's contract that would force the Jets to fork over millions in cache to the Broncos.
If the Jets balk, the Rams may enter the chase.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Re: Manning picks Broncos
From what I gather, the compromise went down about six minutes after church started tonight. I found out afterward.
While I don't like the deal from the Broncos perspective, I can see how it might make sense to them. They probably felt like Tebow might be bitter at losing the job he worked so hard to earn. Given that Manning hasn't even passed a physical yet, they better find a bargain-priced yet experienced backup (preferably TWO) given that Manning is now the ONLY QB under contract.
The move makes even LESS sense from the Jets' POV. Just a few weeks ago, they very publically signed Mark Sanchez to a HUGE contract extension and told him the job was his. Officially, the word is STILL that the job belongs to Sanchez, but there will be a TON of fan pressure on Ryan to play Tebow as soon as Sanchez throws his first pick of the season. The ego game is going to wear on BOTH of them. And it will only get worse if the coaches make the switch too soon, which there will be major pressure to do. In addition, they'll have to consider what to do if Sanchez is injured. Historically, the idea was that a starting QB does not lose his job to injury during the season, but if Tebow is as amazing as he showed flashes of last year, the temptation would be to turn Sanchez into Wally Pipp.
Personally, I think Tebow would have been better off in Denver as a backup to Manning. While his game style is as different from Manning's as it is from Sanchez', Manning has a better brain than Sanchez, so Tebow could have learned more there if forced to remain the #2 guy. This move stinks from ALL angles, but slightly less so from Denver's. If a trade had to go down at all, NYJ was NOT it. Miami, sure. I'd even go for Dallas (which was never in it from all reports). But definitely NOT NYJ, which is in no position to deal with two highly paid QBs who will likely butt heads. (No, I don't believe Tebow will initiate that. Sanchez will.)

So who would you truly rate as best, Tim Tebow, Danny White, or that Tammy Maida dude from the movies?SuperHornet wrote:From what I gather, the compromise went down about six minutes after church started tonight. I found out afterward.
