Nobody does more with less than this man:

Yanks & Bosox will get all the pub & the Rays will quietly win the division again this year.

I have a picture with Gibson that he autographed. Also an autographed baseball.Gil Dobie wrote:Going to see Reggie Jackson on Saturday, got a nice Oakland A's piece I might get signed. Bob Gibson who took care of the Yankees in 1964 and the Red Sox in 1967 will also be there.
Got that for being a sponsor for the annual ODU baseball clinic where they bring in a HOF'er each year as banquet speaker and headline clinician. I get to meet the headliner in a VIP room before the banquet starts. I will have a picture taken, then print it out before the clinic that is held the next day so I can get him to autograph it.
Did this with:
Bob Gibson
Tom Seaver
Joe Morgan
Goose Gossage
Johnny Bench
Only have autographed balls from:
Warren Spahn
Bob Feller
Jim Palmer
Lou Brock
Harmon Killebrew
Steve Carlton

That's like Notre Dame bragging about all the national titles they have....they have them, but very few people who saw most of them aren't alive anymore.Willie wrote:AZGrizFan wrote:One.28. At some point history becomes just that. Time frames for relevance begin to shrink...especially with the way the sports world changes these days.
The fact that the Yankees spend more than any other team every single year (most years not even close) and yet they can't win the WS more than they do doesn't bother Yankee fans?
2011 - Cards win WS finished 11th in payroll (over 90 mil less than NYY...rangers finished 13th over 100 mil behind NY)
2010 - Giants win (9th in payroll 112 million lower than NY..Rangers 27th in payroll 151 millionish behind NY)
2009 - Yankees (first) over Phillies (7th, roughly 80 mil lower)
2008 - Phillies (12th (112 behind NY) over TB (29th of 30 170 million is below NY)
2007 - Boston (2nd over 40 million behind NY) over Colorado (25th about 135 mil lower)
2006 - Stl (13th 106 lower than NY) over Det (16th 112 mil lower ish)
Keep going you want?

Again with the money argument. It's getting old, it really is. I'm sorry that we draw more fans, sell more merchandise, and have a more popular global brand.
By your money arguments, if Miami doesn't win the world series, this season, they are failures. Them and the Angels spent significantly more than any other team this year.

It's professional baseball, the owners can spend what they want.Willie wrote:Again with the money argument. It's getting old, it really is. I'm sorry that we draw more fans, sell more merchandise, and have a more popular global brand.

It doesn't hurt being located in New York, the financial center of the world and a few million people hanging out.

I "get" it. Their money, they do what they want with it.Willie wrote:Thank you, someone that gets it.Gil Dobie wrote:It's professional baseball, the owners can spend what they want.

What I'm saying is that with the money that is being spent you'd think you'd win more titles in the last decade and the teams in the middle of the pack/bottom half wouldn't even be able to compete. I'd say over the last decade the Yankees have been a giant bust all but one year.
How they spend their money, I don't give a shit. However, if the Twins decided to spend 190+ million every year (well over 200 mil most years) and we couldn't win a WS more than once a decade I'd be pissed...not brag about 60-70 year old titles.......except I'd guess those would be all I could brag about.

If the rookie, Moore, pitches up to the lofty expectations, the Rays may have the best starting rotation in baseball. I say this as a Phillies fan.griz37 wrote:Nobody does more with less than this man:

Just read what I said again...
"...only argument I'll need..." assumes something happening in the future. Now had I said "...only argument I need..." that'd mean something from the past.

Brings back great memories. Last time the Yankees got swept in a season-opening series, they went on to win 125 games.griz37 wrote:How does that sweep taste Joe?

Re: Official Non-Yankee Fan Inferiority Thread
I also recall hearing that every single time Kentucky has won a title, the Yankees follow up by winning the World Series.
Re: Official Non-Yankee Fan Inferiority Thread
Kentucky has won the NCAAs 7 times, and it has followed six times: 1949, 1951, 1958. 1978, 1996, 1998. The only time it didn't happen was in 1948 -- Kentucky's first title.griz37 wrote:I also recall hearing that every single time Kentucky has won a title, the Yankees follow up by winning the World Series.
