I think that the big questions that UM has to answer next year are

1) What will they do to replace the talent they lost on the defensive line? They lost a lot of talent there. They have a ton of talent at the linebacker positions and Hermansen will probably be the best safety in the conference.

2) Will losing Trumaine Johnson hurt the Griz defense. They have the talent there him but I don't think they have anybody that would have the same impact on the game as TJ was.

3) I expect JJ to be back, but if he is not I still don't expect much of a drop off on offense. They return a massive o-line that hides their scat backs really well. JJ does the best of operating that fast paced offense with his skill set, however if he is not available I expect the passing attack to become a bigger part of the game plan.

Eastern will definitely be in the mix for winning the conference this year as they get the offensive line back and are loaded with a lot of talent all over. I really like their young secondary and what they can turn into.

No matter the turnover the Griz are still the team to beat in the Big Sky. A lot will depend though is if they allow Delaney to coach the entire next season with the staff in place. If UM goes through the process of hiring an AD and then a coach before next fall who brings in new staff/system then all bets are off.

I also agree that Johnson isn't going anywhere and that UM will still be tough to beat as long as Delaney is still there this fall. If they bring in a new head coach and staff then who know's what we'll see out of Missoula next year.

Eastern will be tough again especially if they have shaken off the injury bug that bit them last year.

MSU will be fine as long as the O-Line gets taken care of. Lots of young talent, but it is unproven.

The team that worries me some is Weber. John L Smith is a heck of a coach.

There's a bunch of teams I wouldn't count out.....UM, MSU, EWU, Cal Poly, Weber and maybe even SUU or UND. I think the Big Sky is going to be an absolute blood-bath this season.

Not really. Weber went 5-6 last year after going 6-5 in 2010.

They don't lose a whole lot, either. I expect them to be in the hunt.

2. This will be a repeat of 2010, um playing EWU first home game of the year, um has a new HC, EWU has another SMU qb.. UM also has no trumaine johnson to run back pic 6's either. Montana is going to get fucking torched, and if EWU beats idaho or wsu, you can expect a new roos field single game attendance record.... Again mostly RED not maroon.
3 kaufman and hart are goin to go hard in the paint. Not to mention herd and edwards.

It's too early to say how much all the crap going on at Montana will effect their 2012 season. It could either hurt or actually bolster their team.

Does it look like Johnson stays or is it still too early?

I would think it is too early to know for sure. The fact that there aren't any charges yet would lead me to beleive there won't be any. But you know what thought did.......thought he farted but shit his pants.

The reason UM was able to limit Mitchell to some extent in both games was because of great play from the UM defensive line and a great secondary. I don't see either of those as a strength for the 2012 Griz....the defensive strength will be the LB's, by a very long ways.
