I'm not so sure I'd go quite THAT far, either. UNC and ISU are so horrible that UND could be something like 9-11 and still be light-years ahead of them.

Cal Poly will be competitive immediately, and the Farm Extension will be middle of the pack and improve from there.
Not sure what reality that's based on
The "reality" of having faced both CP and UCD on an almost annual basis for nearly 15 years, and watching the weekly results as well. Cal Poly has beaten even mighty Montana on occasion; in fact most fans expect them to be competitive right away. Where they likely diverge from me is with UCD. They ARE adjusting to D-I, and doing so a whole heck of a lot faster than UNC has. They'll probably be about midrange for awhile, and then start making noise. My comments regarding UND are also of limited term; they should adjust within a few years and then make major improvements.

UND should be a decent middle of the pack team coming in. But IMO there's virtually no chance they come in and smoke the upper third of the conference right off the bat. They will have to adjust some to the style of play in the Big Sky. Ball-control offense is great unless you are down 14-0 in the first quarter, and unless UND makes improvements in the secondary in the off-season they are going to give up a lot of yards playing in the Big Sky, IMO.

I think UND could be classified as an unknown. We have spent 4 years of DI against SUU, Cal Poly, South Dakota, and UC Davis. We have also played a handful of different FCS teams from all over the country. Stony Brook, SFA, SE Louisiana, Northwestern St, Central Arkansas, Lamar (some reason early on we played a lot of the Southland Conference), SIU, South Dakota State, Drake, and of course ISU, Montana and UNC from the Big Sky. A lot of different teams and different looks. Its tough when you play in a conference with 4 other teams. So of course 2 FBS teams and a host of NAIA/DII teams had to fill our schedule out too. I do think after this season however good or bad we can kinda see where UND will fit in. Right now...its anyone's guess.

Darell, come now, could anyone be upset about a single game in 2008 where ISU went 1-11? Recall, ISU followed that up with one win seasons in 2009 and 2010. But yeah, you nailed it, the "Typical ISU fan" is up nights thinking about the 35-38 home loss to UND.
Seriously, though, this is your first year in the league leading to broad speculation about where UND will land in 2012.

And in 08 ISU was our first DI team on our non-counter schedule. After playing 2 DII teams and a DIII team UND went into ISU and beat them without ever trailing. In 2007 DII UND beat Southern Utah, 2006 DII UND beat Northern Iowa. UND is not entering the BSC without a history of winning. UND went 5-1 against FCS teams last season including sharing a conference title with Cal Poly. We beat 2 ranked teams (SUU and South Dakota), and was 9 minutes from beating a FBS team (Fresno St). ISU went 1-7 vs FCS teams with UNC their only win (UND beat them too). They played only 2 close games losing to Sac St by 15 and losing to PSU by 7 but yet that makes them better than UND? I k now you guys know nothing about us but if you think we are going to stink it up in the BSC you are surely mistaken. Good luck this season! 10/5/13 we play at Idaho State...you can't buy out that game.

settle down, seriously, nobody in the BSC brags about beating ISU in several years

This is why I cannot wait for the season to begin!!
A great example of transfer QB's not working out is Alabama Crimson Tide transfer Jimmy Barnes who transfered to Weber State and lost his starting position 4 games into the season to a Freshman.
Hey, I really like barns as a qb
he was a pick throwing machine
Weber's defense played the game of thier lives in that one in a defensive slug fest by both teams. Weber's D allowed only one offensive touchdown and limited the Bobcats to just 283 total yards for the game, unfortunately good ole' Jimmy B had to play

Really, it's become like second nature to most of us
ISU has been the doormat for a long time but what I saw at the first spring scrimmage looks good. Kramer is doing great things and it is only a matter of time. I think that the motto for this year should be "beat Weber" just to make sure the football team is like the basketball team.

I don't think Kramer would enjoy getting beat 3 times in a season by EWU.

You are very blessed to have the BIG HUMAN as your coach. ISU will be good very soon.

The school formerly and temporarily known as the Sioux will win it in their first year of Big Sky play
They are being overlooked, and it could be a co-championship, but a championship, aka UNI in the MVFC.

UND's chances of winning the BSC this year are akin to NDSU's chances of beating Oregon this year.

You didn't hear?!?! Oregon forfeited the game with NDSU. They didn't want to get any injuries from the MASSIVE NFL offensive/defensive lines and the embarrassment of losing by 20+ would set their program back decades.

Yeah, that's why I picked Poly to win the Big Sky this year...
Cakewalk though? Most of the Big Sky is pretty f'ing mediocre every year... including Davis.

Sounds like Montana is going to possibly have a tough year, that leaves the door open to anyone else, and UND is included in anyone else. Their toughest games will be EWU (easily winnable), Montana St on the road. I can see 6-2 and winning the conference.

That's like saying that if Delaware was gonna have a tough year, that it would leave the door open for Georgia State to win the CAA.

Delaware had a tough year and didn't make the playoffs, while usual bottom feeder Towson did fairly good

Towson had been playing a full D-I slate and been in the CAA for a while. Half of UND's wins last year were against sub D-I (3) and PFL Drake. And they barely beat both winless UNC and Sioux Falls (D-II). UND will not be in the mix for the BSC title next year. Three or four BSC wins tops for them.

I think they can beat Sac St and UNC on the road, Cal Poly, NAU and SUU at home with a win over Montana (Home), EWU or Montana St on the road they have 6 wins.
Curious. Darrell seems to take the PSU for granted, presumeably because it's a homer. Last year, a rebuilding year, we went 7-4. This is the year we're supposed to have a good team. It still won't be up to UND standards?? Ho hum.

Yeah, I know that MSU wont be taking PSU for granted, and the game is in Bozeman.

Meh. I think Darrell is just an enthusiastic fan. At least he's not a troll like those two NDSU punks.
That said, I think Mr. Tiger and his boys will demolish UND (if, indeed, they are on the schedule).
(Notice that I specified TWO. There are plenty of NDSU fans here who are merely good fans. Huge difference.)
