I'm with Joe on this one - I'm not worried. Way too early to get too concerned. Wake me up at the all-star break.

MLB schedule makers smiled on the Phillies with 4 in San Diego this year.

Cliff Lee to the DL. Left oblique. ~3 starts.
Phillies now have $58M in salary on the DL.

he deserves a break after that last start. Plus, with 0 run support, I would be mentally drained as well. The phils bats better wake up soon! I'm especially looking at you Mayberry Jr.

It gets worse. No clutch hits, and 3 errors. Phils lose last 2 of 4 against woeful Pads. SMFH.

2012. Maybe the Mayans were talking about the Phillies season. Or the BoSox.

I'll still wait for October, but man, losing 2 in a row to the Padres, after losing a series to a not-so-great Giants team. Near the bottom in almost every offensive category.

And if the Phils don't take at least 3 out of 4 from the Cubs this weekend, it will be another turnaround!Seahawks08 wrote:LOL quick turnaround there? I was thinking you wanted them to go 10-0 with 20 runs per game.Nice win for Cole! 5-5 western road trip: not bad.

Re: OFFICIAL 2012 Phillies "Wait till October" thread
One month down, team just treading water without their two biggest hitters.
Starting pitching has been excellent, as good as any in the majors. Worley showing no signs of sophomore slump - team has 4 legit aces.
Bullpen - Papelbon has been perfect so far, the bridge to Papelbon still has questions - can Qualls hold up, can Bastardo pitch like 1st 5 months of last season & can Contreras get healthy. Good news is this is the Phils deepest part of their system.
Offense - blech, yuck, vomit, do I need to go on. Even though there is "no official timetable", with Howard in Clearwater now & Utley soon to follow the thinking is before the end of the month they're both back in the big leagues. The good news is - there's nowhere to go but up.
They're 3.5 games back after playing the first sub-.500 month in 3 years, not too shabby.

Phils give Halladay a 6-0 lead through 4.5 innings, Braves tie it in the 5th with a 6 spot. Brian McCann tied it with a 2-out grand slam.

Bad loss. First Halladay blows the 6-run lead, then the bullpen blows another 4-run lead. Contreras should retire.

Eh, Joe Blanton rights the ship with a 3 hit, shutout win in the rubber game.
As bad as the Phils are and have been, especially offensively, they are resting easy with the knowledge that they can sleepwalk through most of the year and still be able to pull it out against this division. Getting to play the likes of the Braves and soon the Nats puts our offensive woes into perspective - there's quite a few teams worse off than we are. We just need to play more NL East games - these other guys stink.
