Oh, and we have super bowls and bowl games and golf and the Phoenix Open and the Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction and and and....

Truthfully, while I'm not a hockey fan, many who ARE fans of the sport refuse to put their support behind a team they think is leaving. Once that is settled, we'll get a better indication of how much support the team REALLY has.
Just so you don't get me wrong... I want hockey to succeed EVERYWHERE, including Phoenix. BUT, since they couldn't sell out the old, small arena and they only averaged 15,400 in the first year of a brand new arena that holds over 17k... and have slipped back to league worst attendance... I think it might be time to move on. I can't imagine two NHL teams in Texas, but San Antonio's AHL team averaged almost 14k this year (my brother is a season tix holder). Maybe a city that doesn't have three other sports is the answer.

Islanders need to put up or ship out too.

Well, whether they stay or go, I won't be there.

I guess us whitey's will always have Cricket now that TJ and his friends have finally figured out this hockey game.

I cannot find the Youtube link for the part of Canadian Bacon when they are at the hockey game discussing this very issue.

Unless the Panthers can stage a furious comeback, it's looking like the Flyers will play the Devils in Round 2. Hope the Rangers and Caps pound the shit out of each other for seven games.

Hold the phones. Panthers rally in the third with two goals to send the game to OT...

89Hen wrote::lol: Wow, I'm seeing all kinds of excuses. Too small arena (even though they couldn't come close to filling it), ownership issues (even though I've never gone to a hockey game to see the owner), new rink too far from Phoenix (who's fault is that and again, if you couldn't fill a smaller arean in a better spot this is kinda moot)... it all adds up to support my position that Phoenix shouldn't have a team.

BTW, Edmonton has an arena that holds about 16,500. They average around 16,500.
We have another one: It's Phoenix, and hockey season is the best weather on the planet. Most places where they play hockey it's miserable outside, whereas in Phoenix during hockey season it's the best weather on the planet outside.

Did I mention it's the best weather on the planet during hockey season in Phoenix? :kisswink:
This kind of ties into why no one in LA will care about the Kings unless its playoff time. :coffee:

Awesome game to watch on TV. Props to the fans for standing the ENTIRE OT period. We had our chances but Brodeur was an absolute wall in the extra periods. Who knows, this hockey thing just might catch on (once again) in South Florida. :thumb: :coffee:

Still feel that AA Arena would be AWESOME to watch hockey...but they would have to probably chance their name to the Miami Panthers and have some crazy new logo or jersey design...

If they change Florida to Miami, they may as well change Panthers to Cougars too.

FWIW, ESPN doesn't see much East Semi drama - all 9 "experts" have a NYR-PHI Eastern Conference Final.
