Orioles - Red Sox

I believe that was the most ridiculous baseball game I have ever seen.

Orioles sweep the Red Sox after an EPIC 17 inning game. Both bullpens were depleted after the 14 inning game on Friday. Both teams resort to their designated hitter as their pitcher.

Chris Davis gets the win for the Orioles. His outting included a 3 pitch strikeout of Adrian Gonzalez.

In Boston's case, it's not quite that simple, Mr. Jelly.

For BAL, it really was DH-P in the box score. For BOS, it was PR-DH-P.

That said, there's a comment on the Yahoo article about BOS failing to send a starting pitcher to the pen in this situation. There may be SOMETHING to that, but hindsight is always 20/20. This isn't even an issue for BAL because THEIR position player on the mound actually WON.

Interesting was the fact that this was the first game since 1925 that BOTH teams in a game sent a position player to the mound.

We haven't heard from UNH yet, but there's a VERY good chance that grizza is correct here.

Just saw that McDonald not only had the ignominy of getting jacked, he was also the doofus who grounded into a double play to end the game.
