Roller Derby in the Olympics?

Post by SuperHornet »

It COULD happen. They're making a push for 2020.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

But no, really, it couldn't. Sorry for the reality check.

I'd like to see it. There's already a Women's World Championship. (The second will be held next year.) But we'd have to get the guys involved, too. It'll take a while for the world to catch up, but they did catch up in hoops, baseball, and softball. Our biggest immediate challengers will likely be Mexico and Canada. But the Europeans are developing fairly well. EP has noted that Israel is doing well, too. And the IWFL gets international players from Japan and has a division recently set up in Guam. I wouldn't expect to see women's football join the Olympics for another 20-40 years or so, but it's definitely got some potential. Men's football at the Olympics could come a bit sooner.
