Disgraced slugger Manny Ramirez will join the Sacramento RiverCats this week to play ten games during his 50-game PED suspension. He will re-join Oakland 30 MAY, coincidentally his 40th birthday.

I don't like DH's, especially DH's who are proven to have taken PEDs. What good are PEDs for a DH anyway? They don't do anything except hit. Other than that guy who took a DH-P turn a week or so ago....

He served his suspension. Guy has to earn a living. I thought you would be more forgiving.
"Elaine, you're from Baltimore, right?"
"Yes, well, Towson actually."
Maybe if he were a F/T player and if he had some remorse.
I STILL want to get rid of the DH rule. Or at least modify it to read like the college softball DP rule, which allows for the DP to replace whatever position you want it to. There is no rational reason why the AL should mandate that if one uses the DH, he HAS to be used in place of the pitcher. If you've just traded with the NL for a pitcher who's hitting .330, there is no reason why he should have to sit so your .220-hitting shortstop can take his whacks.

NCAA softball rules mention double penetration? I may have to tune in and check it out.

Dude, are you of the opinion that PEDs can only enhance performance in the field?
No. What I'm saying is that homers ALONE are meaningless, and therefore DHs are meaningless. As is sitting and waiting for them (a la Bruce Bochy). I like complete players (like Willie Mays and Rickey Henderson) who could hit, run, AND field a position. If ALL you have is a bat (especially if it is a questionable bat like ManRam late in his career, you are not a candidate for MY team, PEDs or no PEDs.

Well, I have learned that what is meaningful and meaningless to you can sometimes sway a little bit from the general consensus.

David Ortiz is meaningless?
As a baseball player, if he does nothing but DH, then he is meaningless, IMO.
As a person, well, that's a different story.

He has a total WAR of 35.2 currently. And this is with DHing most of his career. Gong with active players, that places him between Jimmy Rollins and David Wright. I would hardly call that meaningless.
Bringing up stats that nobody has heard of to bolster an argument doesn't help you at all. Especially when you're making comparisons to to a pair of near nobodies.

War is an arm conflict among two conflicting parties.
