Athletics to Sac?

Post by SuperHornet »

The Railyard Project is over as far as the Kings are concerned. But now Sac Mayor Kevin Johnson is touting the abandoned downtown railyard as a prime location for a BASEBALL stadium to attract the Oakland Athletics, who are looking to get out of Oakland.

I just wonder what this would do to the Rivercats, Oakland's AAA Pacific Coast League affiliate in West Sac (Yolo County), just over the causeway near the Farm Extension.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

I'm guessing he wants the city to remain loyal to their original team and not abandon them for the A's. :?

Oakland draws small but enthusiastic crowds. Fun place to watch a ball game. Lots of aging hippies and braless grandmas.

I really enjoy the Coliseum, easy to get to on the train, and they have better food than any stadium in Minnesota.
