The Big South is gearing up for this. Starting with the 2012-13 season, it will be the first Big South Womens Lacrosse season. CCU just brought on 18 student-athletes.

Was shocked to see Lehigh hosting Maryland - congrats to the Mountain Hawks.

UMass got the shaft falling to a 6 seed.

Yale at Notre Dame - Sunday on ESPNU

http://www.yalebulldogs.com/sports/m-la ... 0506dxy20d" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The Yale men's lacrosse team didn't have to wait long to find out who it plays this weekend in the first round of the 2012 NCAA Tournament. The 11-4 Bulldogs, coming off an Ivy Championship Game win over Princeton that concluded about 2 p.m. today, found out at 9:15 p.m. that they would travel to No. 4 seed Notre Dame (11-2) on Sunday, May 13, for a 5:15 p.m. game at Arlotta Stadium. The game airs live on ESPNU.

In 1990, Loyola lost the NC game.
In 1991, Towson lost the NC game.
In 2012, Loyola started the season unranked and won the NC game.
In 2013, Towson will surely be unranked to start, will the uncanny similarities continue on?

Only time will tell!

I don't want to start a whole thread on womens LAX...and I'm pretty sure they will stay out of this thread so I feel safe asking it here.

I was watching a replay of the women's title game, caught a couple Northwestern games throughout the season due to ComcastSportsNet Chicago, and have in the past. Why are are the rules in women's LAX so fucking different? It's fucking stupid. The refs make the players put their sticks down during time outs to go the to the exact same spot after? The ref actually positions players on dead balls to get the person with the ball a clear path out of traffic? There is a foul/penalty called every 15 fucking seconds?

COMPLETELY DIFFERENT GAMES!
I'm just now starting to learn the real rules as my oldest moves on into older leagues. I'm not coaching past 3rd grade level. It's completely different than the game I played in HS.

The wlax NC game this year was unwatchable. Two defensive oriented teams trying to put the other team to sleep. Pass. Towson's teams lately have been fun to watch. Maryland too. I predict a stall warning to be put in effect in the womens game, manybe even a shot clock like is being proposed in the mens game.

I've never seen such a difference between the men's game and the women's game.

I agree it was nearly unwatchable, and had I found anything else I even remotely cared about on TV I would have changed to that.

At one point in the second half Northwestern's player stood with the ball behind the net for 4.5 minutes....just fucking stood there and nothing happened. I had to check to see if the cable froze at one point.

It was an abomination of the rules. My 10 year old's league you have to pass the ball twice before being allowed to shoot. We played one team that would pass back and forth with the goalie and go racing down field on goal. Once we figured it out, we just put pressure on the goalie and defenders. But they are manipulating the rules to work in unintended reasons. I have watched wlax games trying to learn the rules, but I shut that shit off within minutes.

Besides NWern girls and Syracuse girls are kinda fugly and pasty.

I LOL'ed at you check to see if the screen froze.

I've never played LAX, or really followed it that closely prior to the last 2 years (basically since rumors started about Michigan going D1 with their LAX team). I've always watched the title game, but that's it. Now I watch it whenever it's on. I've picked up on the rules of the men's game fairly well. A couple times I think there was a foul or something and there wasn't and visa versa....but I get it.

The women's game will take years, that I'm not willing to spend, to understand. I live in Iowa and won't have a daughter that plays LAX, as there is no LAX in the area.

Mens is a lot like hockey in the air. It's fun to watch and even more so in person. wlax is much better in person. I have no choice but to learn the rules. Plus my girls enjoy it, are good at it and I live in THE hotbed for recruiting.
