Watta ya mean, hell the VP did more than directed them, he held their hand and drove them to the lawyers, then waited and gave them a ride back to campus. That means the Department of Ed, Department of Justice, and the NCAA all looking at how Montana (and the city of Missoula to be fair) handles these things. I'm not ready to say sanctions are needed, but with all three places looking at the university do most Montana fans still feel this is "nothing except women trying to tear the football program down"

My feeling is that this is still a knee jerk reaction by the U of M directed at the football team. When the FINAL findings come out, I think most people will say the U needed to do some cleaning up of the football team, but didn't need to go overboard like they did. I think what is going to be more damaging is how the U, and the local police department handled the regular student rape charges.
Of course now that the NCAA is involved, I am wondering if they are looking into the eGriz rumors that the HC and AD directed the football players to a local attorney when in trouble.

I just browse the site so I hadn't read the part of driving students. With that being said, I still wonder what will come out in the final report.cats2506 wrote:Watta ya mean, hell the VP did more than directed them, he held their hand and drove them to the lawyers, then waited and gave them a ride back to campus. For example, I read the whole gang rape incident was dropped because someone had a video showing the girl was fully on board and thus only pressed charges after her boyfriend found out. In my opinion, if the coach was shown that video and said, "hey, we need to get you to an attorney", that is a whole bunch different than trying to protect a player that actually raped a girl.
Of course this is the NCAA and they tried to nail EWU for having too many full time coaches - like EWU has all this money just sitting around to pay three extra full time coaches.
I still believe in the end, the football program is going to come out of it looking much better than the U itself or the Missoula PD. Maybe my opinion is due to all the doom and gloom that is being spread. I just can't imagine it being as bad as some people are saying it is.

Difference to this case is the perpetrators were charged, tried, and convicted in court. I don't believe anyone was going to the press defending the moral character of the two boneheads that raped her. BTW - the UNI attorneys are actually attorneys in the Iowa Attorney General's office - the University itself doesn't control the defense. That said, the administrators should have found a way to accommodate her request to move dorms. The least that they could have done.

From the sounds of it, a good number have been accused.....just not charged (as of right now, maybe never)

I was speaking to the differences in the two sets of facts, not arguing anyone elses point.
UNI case 2 now felons cut loose and sent to prison. Bad behavior by administrators.
MT case - one cut loose & charged, and rumors of many more. Bad behavior by administrators, and possibly others.
Difference is that MT's public image is going to suffer on the death by a thousand cuts, with the at least one, if not many, of the accused still on the team. Wait for the first away game where the MT team takes the field under the Bed Intruder song - what kind of PR fiasco will that be?

Re: Jordan Johnson Expelled?
I agree...it's an ugly mess. As far as the accused, I'm not in any way claiming this to be fact but the story in JJ's case is that his ex picked him up and brought him back to her room. Now, if this is true...what were her intentions with JJ...knit some sweaters?...bedazzle some shorts? So, should the U just go ahead and boot him because she feels scorned? or maybe, just maybe they're gonna hold off judgement. Anyway, his reputation is already tarnished and as you already stated, this isn't going away. This will follow this team and the UofM for quite some time.Trapped in CA wrote:I was speaking to the differences in the two sets of facts, not arguing anyone elses point.

Dad always stated that when you're gonna get involved with a girl, think about what it will do to the rest of your life. I think he was generally talking about getting one pregnant, but the same saying unfortunately applies to JJ - regardless of what actually happened.

If what is being said about the girl being his ex-girlfriend, I would think he shouldn't have to think about being accused of rape. I am sure they had sex multiple times before this incident.Trapped in CA wrote:Dad always stated that when you're gonna get involved with a girl, think about what it will do to the rest of your life. Re: Jordan Johnson Expelled?
Sure it could be rape, but in the context I read, it sounded as if she jumped at the chance to take him home while he was drunk. Wanted to get the relationship going again. It was only after JJ woke up the next morning did he realize what a mistake it was to have started down the path to restarting their relationship by having sex with her.cats2506 wrote:So if they had consensual sex once, he can't be accused of rape after that??SeattleGriz wrote:

I will say, that sounds really harsh and would take the whole, "hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" to a whole new level.
...and to my usual disclaimer. I have only read this on eGriz, so I have no idea how truthful it may be. I don't know ANYONE with ANY sort of inside information connected with the team.

Technically drunk sex can be, and has been, charged/convicted as rape.

This is all speculation, but...sober girl picks up drunk ex, takes him home and climbs on top of him, then cries rape when he regrets it the next morning and doesn't want to get back together with her?clenz wrote:Technically drunk sex can be, and has been, charged/convicted as rape.

Re: Jordan Johnson Expelled?
Just as likely that sober girl sees drunk ex and take him home so he doesn't make a fool of himself, drunk QB thinks this means she is DTF, she says no, he forces himself on her, when he sobers up he leaves without talking and the girl says it is rape.Grizalltheway wrote:This is all speculation, but...sober girl picks up drunk ex, takes him home and climbs on top of him, then cries rape when he regrets it the next morning and doesn't want to get back together with her?clenz wrote:Technically drunk sex can be, and has been, charged/convicted as rape.

since we are speculating, we should look at both sides.

Certainly possible. The only ones who know what actually happened are JJ and the female in question, which is usually the problem in situations like this.cats2506 wrote:Just as likely that sober girl sees drunk ex and take him home so he doesn't make a fool of himself, drunk QB thinks this means she is DTF, she says no, he forces himself on her, when he sobers up he leaves without talking and the girl says it is rape.Grizalltheway wrote: This is all speculation, but...sober girl picks up drunk ex, takes him home and climbs on top of him, then cries rape when he regrets it the next morning and doesn't want to get back together with her?
