SH who accredits these masters? I know TBH has had to go through a process of many months/applications/dollars etc... to get anyone to recognize her masters as "accredited" and for her to be viewed as a licenced mental health counselor. Getting the degree was just one part of that.


I did some looking turns out by "anything" sh means he can be a church helper with his masters. From the website

All Liberty degrees are regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS); this includes everything from associate's through doctoral degrees plus educational specialist. Individual programs (nursing, education, athletic training, exercise science, and the School of Law) are accredited by their national organizations.

There is no such thing as an individual having a degree "accredited." There may be an exam for a state license (most notable being the Bar), but that's not the same thing. In the case of religion degrees, getting a license to preach or an ordination is a completely separate process (though it may require an advanced degree) that varies by the faith group. Usually, there are academic requirements, a district-level exam to determine a minimum understanding of theology and church polity in the denomination, an internship process, and a tough interview with district leaders. Again, that is NOT the same thing as an individual "accreditation" of the degree. In fact, in some cases, provision is made for licensure and ordination of people WITHOUT degrees. However, the degree makes passing the theology exam portion of the process MUCH easier. For those looking to become military chaplains, however, an applicable master's degree (usually the M.Div.) or better is REQUIRED if the faith group has one.

It's pretty obviously, many of the posters on this thread are the same bleeding heart liberals that day after day cry for diversity, and espouse tolerance for their beliefs. But tolerance and diversity is only for those that are like minded in the progressive philosophy. They can be tolerant for everyone except Christians.

Since the same organization accredits both CCU and Liberty to grant degrees, using the same standards (the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools), then if as you say, Liberty is not a university, it means then neither is Coastal Carolina.

What goes around comes around. I have no problem with Christians who practice their faith without condemning others for having different beliefs or lifestyles. The founder of Liberty was not one of those Christians.
