Yes he did. He and Jack were among a very small minority who could actually will themselves to victory. When most guys win for the first time, it's usually the opposite. They say things like 'I just tried to relax and have fun', 'I let the game come to me' etc.
It will be interesting to see if he can regain that to anywhere close to the same level with all of the upheaval.

And FWIW, the 17th hole on this course is one of the worst I've ever seen. The green is just plain dumb how it slopes and basically launches the ball downhill.
