Where is the "None of the above" option?
In all seriousness, my bet would be Cal Poly.

I voted Cal Poly because they have a good chance this year of doing that. They don't play any Montana teams and have a favorable schedule.EWURanger wrote:Where is the "None of the above" option?

Cal Poly is losing three league games this year. Minimum. Mark it down.Darell1976 wrote:I voted Cal Poly because they have a good chance this year of doing that. They don't play any Montana teams and have a favorable schedule.EWURanger wrote:Where is the "None of the above" option?

Now now...USD hasn't been that bad against the teams currently in the MVFC all time....They are 96-122-11 all time against current MVFC schools, and have only been outscored by 705 points in those games.....granted that is the only FCS conference they have a win % of over 40% all time.....MVFC 44, Big Sky 37, OVC 28, Pioneer 33, and Southland 14.Bison Fan in NW MN wrote: LOL....who voted for USD?

Maybe those numbers are skewed from games decades ago...lets look at games only during their D1 transition.
ISUr:
2011: @ ISUr: loss 3-28
NDSU:
2010: @NDSU: L 16-38
Northern Iowa:
2010: v UNI: L 14-19
2009: @ UNI: L 7-66
2008: @ UNI: L 13-24
Those are the games they have played against the MVFC during their transition. Not real good for them as their average score is 10-35.
Now, are they better right now than they were in 2008-2010? Yep. So is every single MVFC team....except MSU and maybe WIU.
Their records if you go back further against MVFC teams they've played at any point in history and it doesn't get any better.

I hope you're talking strictly football, because if you're not, then that "prediction" went out the window years ago.kalm wrote:I honestly have no clue, but I do predict that Davis wins one before Sac St.
Remember, we DO have wins over Eastern (not many, I'll grant you), and now we DO have a win over Montana. And this year, we don't even HAVE to beat Montana to win the title. I see us having five and potentially six wins before we even hit Cheney this year. Of course, then we hit our big string of four games to end the season. THAT, I think, is where the title will be decided, and, yes, Eastern will have a ton to say about that. We will probably only have to win two or three of those to go dancing. A given? Certainly not. But DEFINITELY within the realm of possibility. And without Montana on the sched, if there was ever a year to pull it off, THIS is the year.

So you see Sac St going 6-1 to start the year...with 2 FBS games in that stretch?

6-1?!? I'm surprised he doesn't have us going 15-0 again.clenz wrote:So you see Sac St going 6-1 to start the year...with 2 FBS games in that stretch?
BTW I wasn't sure if SH was referring to UM when he would use, "we."

Re: Which former GWFC team will be the first to win their co
Are you falling for that "FBS is an auto-loss" trash? Just ask Michigan about how far THAT got them. For that matter, ask Oregon State....clenz wrote:So you see Sac St going 6-1 to start the year...with 2 FBS games in that stretch?
New Mexico State is winnable. So is Colorado, but that one should be tougher. But even if we lose those, we'll still be 5-2 going into Cheney. The tough Sky schedule doesn't start until then. Well, one could say that our HC game (Weber) could be hard, but we've proven that we CAN beat them, and those Sky teams (even the one OOC Sky game, UNC) will be easy pickings.
It's the END of the season that will decide it for us. Like I said, Eastern will have a lot to say about whether we go to the playoffs or not. All I'm saying is that it's within the realm of possibility, and this is the year to do it. Next year, it will be infinitely tougher because UM will be gunning for revenge.

Re: Which former GWFC team will be the first to win their co
After the OSU upset, I don't think either of those 2 teams will be overlooking us. Plus we have a lot of question marks on offense. If we had a proven QB returning I would like our chances against NMSU and possibly even Colorado. Unfortunately we don't have a proven QB so both those games are probable losses.SuperHornet wrote:Are you falling for that "FBS is an auto-loss" trash? Just ask Michigan about how far THAT got them. Re: Which former GWFC team will be the first to win their co
I take it "proven that we CAN beat them" means winning one of the last five games scoring 85 points and giving up 173 points in the process. It appears to me that recent history shows WSU blowing out CSU-Sacramento in Ogden with close games that go either way in Sacramento. In your favor, this year the game is in Sacramento.SuperHornet wrote:New Mexico State is winnable. So is Colorado, but that one should be tougher. By all means, write off your game in Cedar City on 6 October as "easy pickings", sort of like you did last year before being trashed 35-14. Outside of Colorado, that will likely be your toughest game in the first 7 and in the top 3-4 all year.
