The Economy Is Sound
Remember back during the 2008 when Senator McCain said the economy was basically sound??? Remember how the Obama campaign jumped all over that, ridiculing the Arizona senator as being out of touch...
Well, with the economy in worse shape than that day, the Obama economic team has declared the economy "sound"....

What they fail to report, yeah I know big shock right, is that less spending and more saving is actually, well, A DAMN GOOD THING. To listen to the grim economic news, you would think the inability to use credit is the same thing as doomsday. I know it is a necessity for businesses to operate, but for people, and I include myself, we could all take a step back from credit and spending and start acting more frugal. Again, I include myself.

Re: The Economy Is Sound
I can find this:
"There's a reason why even in the midst of this economic crisis you've seen actual increases in investment flows here into the United States," Obama said. "I think it's a recognition that the stability not only of our economic system, but also our political system, is extraordinary.
"I think that not just the Chinese government, but every investor, can have absolute confidence in the soundness of investments in the United States," he added.

I think the quote referred to here comes from an Obama economic advisor:
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch ... econo.html
She said "Of course, the fundamentals are sound."
It's semantics... but I think there is a difference in her statement and McCain's that said the fundamentals of the economy were strong

Re: The Economy Is Sound
Guys, I saw all that "economy is fundamentally sound" stuff and I have to say that I agree almost wholeheartedly, just as I did when McCain said it several months ago.
Take a look at it, I still see multiple SUVs driving around with MILFS shopping. I don't see massive strikes and economic protests everywhere. I still see people working and buying stuff. I don't se any soup or breadlines and such, as the media would make you believe. Took my truck in for service this morning and there were dozens of mechanics still working, it appeared. Lines were as long as ever at Cabelas in Owatonna, MN, yesterday.
So, for me personally, I have never bought this "catastrophe" sh*t. We have things to work on, let's do it together (Conks) and move on.

Wow, Cap'n and I agree. You're spot on. However, the Bush administration used this crisis to push through things they wanted and I hope Obama doesn't do the same. The media is always up for a new story and this one is selling.Cap'n Cat wrote:Guys, I saw all that "economy is fundamentally sound" stuff and I have to say that I agree almost wholeheartedly, just as I did when McCain said it several months ago.
