Go make your own thread Benedict Arnold.

As for the phils, did anyone catch that minor miracle tonight? The bullpen didn't allow a run through 4 innings!!! Is that a glimmer of hope I see?

Nice comeback win in LA. The Phils could actually get the " revenge sweep" if they win today.

And those mighty Nats are drawing dick at home for such a successful team. Barely 26K last night. :ohno:

Michael Schwimmer is counting his blessings that the game wasn't at CBP as he would've let up 2 HR's if the game wasn't in LA. But, hey they won, & that's 4 in a row and 2 series wins in a row!!

Going to make the next 13 days very interesting in terms of what moves RAJ makes or doesn't make.... :coffee: :coffee:

That's OK. I can just take over this thread like the Nats are taking over the Phils in the NLE. :thumb:

Phils in 2005 were 13th in attendance, the second year in the new ballpark and basically with a team similar to where the Nats are now. Nats are 15th and climbing. :thumb:

But the lowly 2012 Phils lead MLB in home attendance, and the front-running Nats don't even average 30K at home. :geek: In 2005, the Phils missed the playoffs altogether and still averaged over 33K.

So? They should be selling out every night with their division-leading record and their young talent.

Phils weren't selling out until after they won the WS. It's a process. Even so, I dont' think the Nats will ever sellout on a regular basis. I'd be happy with them getting over 30k on average.

Washington is not a great sports town. It's better than a town like Atlanta but is way behind Boston, NYC or Philly, it's east coast brethren.

One of my wedding party is in charge of tix sales for the Caps & Wizards - people have gone to Caps games in recent years because of Ovie but that train is slowing. The Wizards? Distant #4. The Nats? Distant #3.

Really down there it's the Redskins and then everything else, but that 5-generation season ticket waiting list they used to have obviously doesn't apply to premium seating which is about half-full for most Redskins games. Reminds me of watching a Yankees game with all those overpriced empties behind the plate & by the dugouts & field. No wonder Spike Lee caught that bat the other day - there weren't too many other people around to fend off....

I don't get the reference to the Phils in 2005 - were the Phils ever in 1st place for multiple months in 2005? I thought the Phils were well behind for most of the year and then made a charge late in the year to just fall short of the Wild Card. They certainly weren't front runners for as long as the Nats have been, and that's assuming the Phils were ever even in first place for a day back in 2005.

In 2006, when the Phils finished about 12 games behind the Mutts, and two years before they won the WS, they still averaged over 34K.

No doubt. I was just talking to somebody about going to the different pro sports games in town. I won't go to Redskins game (even if it was an Eagles game) with free tickets on the 50 yard line. The stadium sucks and it's a nightmare trying to get home. I can make it the 100 miles from Hens games in 1:35 including a stop at the Wawa on Elkton Road. Last Skins game I went to (Eagles in probably 2006/07) was 3 hours to get home from the time I left my seat.

EASILY the best game in town is Caps (or Wizards if you're hardcore bball fan). I can leave my house at 6:20pm and make the drop of the puck at 7:08. One train for a vast majority of fans and when you're leaving the Verizon Center, the fans are going every direction. There are also a TON of restaurants and bars all around the arena. The Nats stadium is in SE DC (yes, Anacostia) and EVERY fan leaving there is going one direction on one line so they can then transfer to their train. It's packed and takes a lot longer. Plus it's going to take quite a while for the surrounding area to be developed.

Finally, they're listening to me.

Cliff Lee is supposedly being shopped now.

I still contend that they should sign Hamels before the deadline, 6-yr, 135-140mil would be my offer, maybe up to $150mil, and then trade Lee in the offseason. My thinking is you can normally get more for someone in the offseason versus at the deadline. All you're likely to get at the deadline is prospects - you can get major league players plus prospects starting in November....

Cole is younger, keep him & ship Lee in the offseason. Next few days will be ones to watch: Hamels, Lee, Rollins, Polanco, Pierre, Victorino, Pence, Blanton - any of those guys can go.

I have three more games on my 2012 Phillies "six-pack" package. If they trade Cole, I'm going to shred them and mail them to Amaro with a nasty letter.

Rumors have the Hamels offer at 6 years, upwards of $135M.

If he takes it Cliff Lee has anywhere from days to 3 months left as a Phil.

False. There was one hard hit ball in that inning. The Dodgers got extremely lucky with their placements. One bloop just out of reach of rollins, a swinging bunt, and a ground ball that kemp beat out by a fraction of a second. Looking back on it now, seems just like our season. :(

And who's taking that contract? If they sign Hamels, that means the end for Victorino, not Lee.

7 straight home losses, worst home record in NL at 17-29. Do us a favor, guys, and stay on the road the rest of the season. :x And never bring Papschmear into a tie game again. He always loses.

He did get them out in the 9th. Shouldn't have used him in the 10th.

I agree though, shouldn't use the closer in a tie, they pitch on adreneline and they don't have it unless they are pitching for the save. Lidge had the same problem.

Finally got off the schneid at home. Blanton pitched well again, and J-Roll's hit won it in the 12th. Kendrick wins in relief for the second time in a week!
