Summer by a light year. Take speed skating out of the winter olympics and 90% of the summer games are more interesting and fun to watch than any of the winter events.

And I thought it was absolutely inexcusable for NBC to skip the tribute to the victims of the subway bombing for Ryan Seacrest to interview Phelps.
It's NBC, SK. Showing tributes to incidents that draw attention to the death cult of radical Islam is not part of their mantra. It should come as no surprise that Phelps is a higher priority. Plus, it is what the Ignorati want to see, so it's a win-win for NBC.

The whole hobbits of the Shire morphing into smokestacks thing wasn't too bad, and I really gotta give props to the Queen for being a good sport and doing the James Bond skydiving bit - to me that was the highlight of the night. The nurses with bad teeth demonstrating how to shake babies so that they end up disabled and in signing choirs was pretty creepy, and as noted the rest of it seemed like a medley of forgettable Superbowl halftime shows.
And dear lord, Meredith Viera and Matt Lauer take annoying to a whole new level...
