Great stat on the A's. I went ahead and bolded teams that are playoff contenders, but are in the bottom half of payroll.

Just you guys wait until the A's call up pitcher Daniel Straily from AAA Sacramento. Between Sac and AA Midland this year, Straily has 171 strikeouts in just over 130 innings, leading the minors. His AAA ERA is below 1.00. Just before he left Midland last month, Straily was named to the Texas League All-Star list and was PCL POW on 7/16.

Can you imagine a team like the A's right now with a pitcher like THIS?!?

Correct. He'll be better than each of the members of the Angels rotation (IMO), but one guy can't beat an entire rotation. That'll be tough to beat.

Don't need to, just need to cling to one of those two wild card spots if they can

...and I seriously hope the Rangers and Halos crash and burn in the playoffs yet again

Dominance in the minors means squat when it comes to the Big Leagues.

Trevor Bauer, a better pitcher thatn Straily, has been dominant in the minors - struggled so much in the Majors he was sent back to Reno.

He could be great, or he totally could bomb

What proof do you have that he would even crack the Angels rotation?

A's win 12th straight road game. They are two away from the franchise record (set back in Philly)

Going for the 4-game sweep over the choke artist Angels tonight!

How is Cespedes's sprained wrist? A's are 70-39 with him, 12-22 without him.

You know I wasn't paying attention at the start of baseball season, 08. Do you seriously have to ask where my head was back then, and is at the beginning of EVERY baseball season? I'm sure SD and just about every cat here would be more than happy to tell you.
