It's true. Dunno why they took so long, but it is what it is.
Heard we have a guy from Stanford, but that's just rumors.

Though, he's from Stanford so he can probably pick up the playbook on the flight over.

Exactly the right action by the school, too. To ignore it would be ludicrous, but to expell him sans conviction opens the school up to a huge wrongful termination suit. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if we see something of that nature VERY soon from Pflugrad, particularly if either of these kids are exonerated.
Anyone else notice the usual Florio hatchet job? The school CLEARLY labelled Johnson as SUSPENDED, yet she brought up the expulsion nonsense again, as if the school is hiding something. This hack with an agenda has GOT to go....

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

The grapevine indicates that he's been here for maybe a week or two already, throwing to the WRs in voluntary drills.Skjellyfetti wrote:When does y'all's camp start? Better get there soon.uofmman1122 wrote:It's true. Dunno why they took so long, but it is what it is.

Nobody knows who it is, though. eGriz narrowed it down to either Robbie Picazo, a pocket QB, or Dallas Lloyd, a 4-star #15 overall rated dual-threat QB.
I doubt it's Lloyd, but you never know. Picazo doesn't fit the offensive style so much, though.
I think our signed QB from Hawaii will do just fine, honestly.

Pflugrad was fired months ago. JJ was expelled. This is a sad day for everyone involved.SuperHornet wrote:Exactly the right action by the school, too. No kidding. If the football team wants to get Florio off their backs, then go to class, play the game, and make sure she never has anything to write about them ever again.SACCAT wrote:Pflugrad was fired months ago. If JJ did everything in the affidavit, Florio's writing is the very least of his worries, and should be the least of our worries, as well.

JJ was reportedly voted to be expelled in May, but it was appealed so he can't actually be kicked out until the appeal process is over.SACCAT wrote:Pflugrad was fired months ago. JJ was expelled. Of course, all of that only matters if he's found not guilty. He'll have more pressing concerns otherwise, like applying his math skills to cigarettes.
Re: Griz QB charged with rape
Are you saying that he is still on the team until the trial is over? And he wasn't reported to be expelled, he was voted to be expelled.Mvemjsunpx wrote:JJ was reportedly voted to be expelled in May, but it was appealed so he can't actually be kicked out until the appeal process is over.SACCAT wrote:

That's too bad for Montana. Side question- who's Montana's coach now? I haven't followed your threads about this mess that closely, so I have no idea.

A long time assistant that couldn't win at the NAIA level...rkwittem wrote:That's too bad for Montana. Side question- who's Montana's coach now? I haven't followed your threads about this mess that closely, so I have no idea.

No way would it be Robbie Picazo. Know the kid and the family. I would have heard had he left Stanford.uofmman1122 wrote:The grapevine indicates that he's been here for maybe a week or two already, throwing to the WRs in voluntary drills.Skjellyfetti wrote:

I guess that's good to know. I mean, it's all speculation at this point until next week when camp starts.oceanvue wrote: No way would it be Robbie Picazo. Know the kid and the family. I would have heard had he left Stanford.

From what I've read/heard, he's suspended effective immediately. I guess suspension isn't quite expulsion, but it will be soon, I'm sure.SACCAT wrote:Are you saying that he is still on the team until the trial is over? You can pretty much guarantee he's gone. This made the BoR deciding his appeal's decision pretty damn easy.Screamin_Eagle174 wrote:From what I've read/heard, he's suspended effective immediately. I guess suspension isn't quite expulsion, but it will be soon, I'm sure.SACCAT wrote:

I assume he will still technically be on the team until either there's a conviction/plea deal or the pending expulsion is final. He's definitely not going to be playing regardless…

Re: Griz QB charged with rape
Very unfortunate, for the girl, for Johnson, for the school, the team, everyone all around. Johnson is not a bad kid. He seemed very personable while we were recruiting him. This is something we could not see happening from him. Very unfortunate for everyone.
Re: Griz QB charged with rape
First off , no that is not what you said. You said he was "reportedly voted expelled". It wasn't reportedly , HE WAS EXPELLED. he appealed the expulsion and was allowed to still be on the team as the appeal was going on. He was then charged with rape, and will now NOT be on the team ( your president said it tonight " Jordan Johnson is no longer on the team). I am not happy with what is going on at MSU or UM right now, but don't act like you should keep him on the team until this plays out...what are you PENN STATE?Mvemjsunpx wrote:Um, isn't that what I said?SACCAT wrote:

Re: Griz QB charged with rape
I said "reportedly" because the original article from a month or so ago didn't mention him by name (we just all assumed it was Johnson because it was obvious). linkSACCAT wrote:First off , no that is not what you said. Uh, here's the actual quote (from here):SACCAT wrote: He was then charged with rape, and will now NOT be on the team ( your president said it tonight " Jordan Johnson is no longer on the team).
So he is still technically a member of the team right now.University of Montana President Royce Engstrom said in an interview with NBC Montana that Johnson had been removed from the team.
"Given the charges that have been filed against Mr. Johnson, our student athlete conduct code calls for immediate suspension from team activities, and we will put that into affect right away," said Engstrom. "We will just have to let due process play out."
While he's been suspended indefinitely from the football team, Johnson's still enrolled as a UM student at this time.
Um, yeah, you're a fucking idiot.SACCAT wrote:I am not happy with what is going on at MSU or UM right now, but don't act like you should keep him on the team until this plays out...what are you PENN STATE?
Comparing this situation to Penn State (where a school is known to have actively covered up serial child molestation) is ridiculous & you know it's ridiculous, so it seems clear to me you aren't really interested in a serious discussion. You obviously aren't as well-versed on the facts of this as you think you are, either, so maybe you should educate yourself before barging through the door like an ignorant, sanctimonious asshole.

Re: Griz QB charged with rape
The Dallas Lloyd rumors have been floating around, but no real confirmation there. Delaney told one of the Missoula TV reporters yesterday that a drop down was "highly unlikely" at this point, but he also claimed to have no knowledge of what last week's press conference announcing his 2 year contract was about, when in fact he probably did...the guy apparently has a good poker face. So, who knows? Barring a transfer, redshirt frosh McKinney seems best suited to run the offense. Gotta wonder if Nate Montana is kicking himself for transferring when he did.

Redshirt Freshman Trent McKinney (dual threat QB)
True Freshman Brady Gustafson (really tall QB....6'7")
Like I said above, McKinney seems best suited to run the offense, assuming the Griz will run an offense similar to last season's. Delaney indicated that would be the case when he took over head coaching duties during spring ball, but he also had Johnson as the QB back then.
