Re: Olympics
Somewhere, Allen Iverson is smiling today & saying "I told you so". Michael Phelps proves that "practice, practice, practice" in the end falls short to drinking, smoking & God-given talent.

The IOC sorts by gold medals first, almost every US news source sorts by most medals. Ralph liked the IOC method because it made China look better.

Seems like once you get past gymnastics and diving the Chinese fall off pretty quickly in the medal count.dbackjon wrote:Currently tied at 18 Golds each, US leads Total count by 3

Anyone watchin' this Federer-Del Potro match? I woke up at 9am and turned it on and the match was in the second set. I then went back to sleep and I just woke up and it's only in the third set at 15-15.

I'm looking forward to the Dressage and Race Walking.

I don't like Olympic sports where the gold medal isn't the ultimate prize in that sport.93henfan wrote:Olympic tennis. Sounds exciting.
Soccer = World Cup
Tennis = Grand Slam
Basketball = NBA Championship (for US players and since the US almost always wins (13 of 16)).
Hockey is borderline. I think most players would still rather have a Cup, but there's no denying that the USA/Canada gold medal game was one of the best hockey games in history.

Well at least for this Olympic finals, tennis has some meaning. This is the last hurrah for the Fed and it's the only thing he hasn't won. Looking forward to the Murray/Fed final!

Alex Morgan owns the New Zealand goalie. This is why you should vote for her in the sports babe thread.
