No word on cause. No suicide or foul play suspected. He did have a past history of drug use, including smashing into another car in 2007 while high on heroin. That was the same day his brother Britt was arrested for pulling a gun on another motorist during a road rage.

Sad, but not exactly surprising.

Both of Reid's boys have had drug related problems. Very sorry to hear this.

Sad, no official word but plenty of speculation. Tough times for the Reid family.

Re: Andy Reid's Son Garrett Dead
My first thought was "relapse" and "overdose", but all the reports are saying there was nothing "suspicious". The picture the Philly papers are painting is that he just died in his sleep. Maybe it was just a freak medical condition. I guess the autopsy will tell the tale.bluehenbillk wrote:Sad, no official word but plenty of speculation. Tough times for the Reid family.
I'm not listening to WIP. What are they saying? Was he in a pool of vomit or anything?

WIP was supportive today - laying off all criticism at him, at least the morning crew was (who'd be the most likely to cast aspersions). People guessing drugs but nobody knows for sure....93henfan wrote:My first thought was "relapse" and "overdose", but all the reports are saying there was nothing "suspicious". Re: Andy Reid's Son Garrett Dead
The statements from Andy seem to indicate it was drugs:
"It's a sad situation, it's one my son has been battling for years, my family's been battling," Reid said. "It doesn't mean you stop loving your son."
"Garrett’s road through life was not always an easy one. He faced tremendous personal challenges with bravery and spirit. As a family, we stood by him and were inspired as he worked to overcome those challenges. Even though he lost the battle that has been ongoing for the last eight years, we will always remember him as a fighter who had a huge, loving heart."
