Newsday: Stony Brook and Albany to CAA next week

A few beatings by their little purple and gold brother and they'll settle down. It might not happen right away.....but then again they did only beat CCSU by 5 last year at home. Last I checked it was the same CCSU team that Albany beat 63-35....

SBU is still in the AE in all sports other than football. Delaware St would make a good addition. Not to mention a travel partner for UMBC. Long Island to Delaware is about 3 maybe 3.5 hours so that is do able. We will need a replacement for Boston Univ. once they leave in 2013. As long as you guys dont mind traveling to Maine and UNH .

Would beat traveling to Florida and Georgia. And we would be in our natural regional market where a majority of our alumni are. There is not reason why DSU shouldn't be exploring this potential move.

I thought the NEC only allows a limited amount of scholarships. Isn't DSU a full-scholly program?

IMO, Fordham might make more sense to replace Albany.

It's almost football season and I'm tired of acting like I care whether or not College of Charleston becomes a full CAA member. Hopefully both Albany and SB will increase their fan bases so we don't have to deal with more schools dropping their programs. How you can run a program long term getting 1600 people showing up at the occasional home game is beyond me, but whatever, I guess we'll see if you can make it work. Cheers and welcome.

So Stonybrook has gone from the NEC, to Indepemdent. to the Big South to the CAA all in span of 6 years.

Should we assume that the CAA is just a stepping stone to something else in a couple of years?

Dear God, please tell me your joking. They're hemorrhaging money on their programs as it is. They haven't even announced officially that they'tr even in the football league yet, and we're already asking what their next move is after the CAA? Could we please just stop the insanity!

How can JMU fans be so downtrodden? Great stadium, great campus, great on-field success.....ODU moving ahead of them so quickly seems to have really beaten them down.

IMO, Fordham might make more sense to replace Albany.

I'll just put it this way.

In the last 20 years, DSU football MAY have had its full complement (63) of scholarships given out for about 2 or 3 of them...

I don't think there will be much resistance for reducing that number to 40. Our new AD may welcome the idea as well.

It seemed like there was one side (maybe 40%) defending the Albany and SBU pickups. Then there was the other side (maybe 60%, just a guesstimate) bashing it. If you read through the threads I was one of the biggest defenders.

I noticed you supporting the move. I'm really just referencing this tongue-in-cheek thread "Smart Growth for the CAA"

Unrealistic expectation? I'd rather no team join the CAA for 2013 season than the likes of yours, plain and simple. The addition of these 2 schools to football only shows the CAA is crumbling. Hopefully JMU can get out before the CAA ultimately falls apart.

And we lost to Cornell, Stony Brook and Monmouth that year. It wasn't our best team by far either.
