This is a great day for Stonybrook fans . Maybe only moving up to Div 1 was better but as member of the best football conference in FCS it is indeed a great move.

Yeah - the 1st rule of the CAAZone is that Dukeman/Dukeman1 is a troll towards JMU. He's just awful.danefan wrote:I noticed you supporting the move. I'm really just referencing this tongue-in-cheek thread "Smart Growth for the CAA"BDKJMU wrote:
It seemed like there was one side (maybe 40%) defending the Albany and SBU pickups. Then there was the other side (maybe 60%, just a guesstimate) bashing it. If you read through the threads I was one of the biggest defenders.
You may have just seen this thread, "Stony Brook and Albany Heading To CAA for 2012":
http://boards.caazone.com/showthread.ph ... A-for-2012" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
But also on the "Newest Conference Rumor" thread that was started about a yr and a half ago and has now grown to 135 pages. Page 131-135 of this thread, starting when someone posted the SBU/Albany announcement article post 5209:
http://boards.caazone.com/showthread.ph ... ost1775326" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
= http://boards.caazone.com/showthread.ph ... th-for-CAA" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Unrealistic expectation? I'd rather no team join the CAA for 2013 season than the likes of yours, plain and simple. The addition of these 2 schools to football only shows the CAA is crumbling. Hopefully JMU can get out before the CAA ultimately falls apart.

CAAZone is terrible now. Don't read any threads started by troll dukeman/dukeman1 and there's little left.

Yep every board has their resident retard, and he is ours. Although we like to think he is a troll from another school acting as a JMU fan in disguise. Constantly starting retarded threads which I won't even click on anymore.NH/JMU Saxkow wrote:Yeah - the 1st rule of the CAAZone is that Dukeman/Dukeman1 is a troll towards JMU. Downtrodden ? Not hardly. I hope that JMU NEVER moves up to 1A. What is to gain? Road games that are too far to drive to. Maybe a bowl game in Detroit on a Tuesday night? What fun...We have an awesome venue right now in 1AA, second last year in average attendence.More room for stadium expansion [40,000]. And I love the 1AA playoffs. I am not running ODU down, but they are basically taking a 1AA team to the 1A level next year. They don`t have the scollys in place like UMASS. We will see how that works out for them. They have yet to even play a 1A team. We beat # 11 Va Tech. So I guesss they could have success. Go Dukes !!!danefan wrote:How can JMU fans be so downtrodden? Great stadium, great campus, great on-field success.....ODU moving ahead of them so quickly seems to have really beaten them down.

C.Conn St. to CAA for all sports? C of C, Davidson or UNCG to CAA?

No chance in hell CCSU is invited to join the CAA for all sports.Fresno St. Alum wrote:C.Conn St. to CAA for all sports? C of C, Davidson or UNCG to CAA?

The only possiblity for conference change would be a America East/CAA Football hybrid just like UA, SBU, UNH, and Maine.

Yeah, CCSU (and Duquesne like the article talks about) are not on the CAA's radar for anything. There are some in the conference that aren't happy that Albany is joining with their low attendance history, but at least they have a new stadium to increase excitement. CCSU and Duquesne draw even less than Albany does and have smaller enrollments.

So who gets you to 12 in fb and in all sports C of C, Davidson or UNCG, and ???? A school w/ fb or all 3 plus CCSU for fb only? Yeager wants 12 all sports, do they settle for 10 w/ C of C?

Re: Newsday: Stony Brook and Albany to CAA next week
If anything, they're going to look to the south (SoCon or Big South). The northern football teams (UNH, Maine, and URI) have been placated by the NY additions. Now it's time to please the southern teams with some teams from the Carolinas.Fresno St. Alum wrote:So who gets you to 12 in fb and in all sports C of C, Davidson or UNCG, and ???? I would say that Elon and Furman are on the wish list. If not those two schools, then how about Liberty and Coastal ?

Coastal - yes.Purple Reign wrote:I would say that Elon and Furman are on the wish list. If not those two schools, then how about Liberty and Coastal ?
Liberty - meh.....do you want another school with enumerated FBS aspirations? I'd definitely deal with that to get a school like App State. But does Liberty offer enough to overcome the high likelyhood they'll be a short stopover?

Re: Newsday: Stony Brook and Albany to CAA next week
Like Albany just a year ago, CCSU is a longshot now for CAA Football. But if CAA Football is willing to take URI back, then CCSU is certainly "on the radar." There should be no doubt that CCSU could compete with these programs if in a conference that allows 63 schollys. Not saying it will happen, but we are the next logical school in the North, period.NH/JMU Saxkow wrote:Yeah, CCSU (and Duquesne like the article talks about) are not on the CAA's radar for anything. As for Elon, Furman, Wofford, Coastal, Liberty, or whoever from the South. Tthe issue for them isn't football one bit. The question is can they get approved on the basketball side. If Charleston is willing to join the CAA without any other Southern team, why would the CAA expand to 12 on the hoops side?
The CAA memebrship will value BASKETBALL next. If they can improve the value of hoops with a school from the South that also has football, fine. But they will NOT add any school on the CAA side that doesn't help hoops in some manner.
IMO - Just like CCSU needs URI and the AE-4 to strongly support them for a potential CAA Football invite, Elon/Furman, etc. really needs Charleston to demand a "package deal" for them to gain CAA membership.

Re: Newsday: Stony Brook and Albany to CAA next week
The only way a SoCon team will leave for the CAA is if it's a basketball school (e.g. Davidson and CofC). Furman, Wofford, Elon, and App. aren't going to want any part of a lateral move in football and a downward move in baseball.
Sorry to disappoint all the CAA folks who apparently thought the CAA would raid the SoCon into oblivion.
