Outside of China, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Denmark, not a lot of players.

No country besides China has won a gold medal at a major world championship in 3 years.
You are talking about almost half the worlds population in those countries. China #1 and Indonesia #4

So?

In theory, I don't have an issue with Badminton - but if we are going to include such a regional sport, they need to include regional sports from the Americas, like Baseball/Softball, Lacrosse, Bowling, etc.

They base it on how many countries a sport is played competitively in, not on the population of the countries where it's popular.

I agree, but I'd rather cut some of the judging activities, as I have a hard time calling them "SPORTS".

That's a good start, maybe make boxing a fight to the finish. You get knocked down, you lose.

As much as I think soccer is boring, I have to admit I really enjoyed the last 2 US women's game, pretty exciting. Alex Morgan is my new favorite female athlete, hell of a player & she looks ok too.

I disagree that they should let regional sports in the Olympics as it defeats the purpose. And anyways, the IOC can't just "allow" it as the international community has set a standard: for men's events, you need 70 countries on 4 continents to sponsor it; for women's events, 40 countries have to sponsor it. It's why some sports come and go. For example, women's lax is projected to be in the '16 games since it's finally reached the required threshold.

You sure about that, Trip? Does team handball actually have that kind of a following?

I don't know if it has a large following, but enough countries on enough continents sponsor it. Right now American football is sponsored by 62 countries on 6 continents. Golf and rugby will be in the 2016 games.

Baseball was in the 2008 Olympics, but it was voted out from the 2012 games. Here's the story:
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/02/ ... 0205.shtml" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It was also voted out from the 2016 games: http://bizofbaseball.com/index.php?opti ... &Itemid=42" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Baseball has made a bid for the 2020 games though. However, since the games are capped at 28 sports (London has 26) and 27 are taken for, there's only one additional spot and it's between baseball and 9 other sports.

ps. It's actually 75 countries on 4 continents for the men. 40 countries on 3 continents for the women.

Thanks for proving my point, Morgan is the hottest, I would Sydney Leroux #2.

Can't believe Morgan Euceny laid on the track & pouted instead of getting up & finishing the 1500 meters after she was tripped up by another runner.

No arguments here. She needs to get some better pics on the web though.

Those were some good relays. Even though US men got silver, they still set the American Record. :clap:

True, but I object to a guy claiming all the glory for himself in a clearly TEAM event. I'd like to see him try to run it all by himself against our team.

He's arrogant and brash as hell, but he clearly acknowledged that it was a team effort. Do you even think before you post?
