It's amazing how much the attendance at the Brickyard has fallen the last 4 or 5 years, especially after the tire fiasco.

For the first time in twenty years I'll be missing a Pocono race this weekend.

The Rainbow Warrior finally gets a win yesterday. I don't care how many laps they actually ran - Gordon finally runs into some good luck & just might make the Chase still!!! :thumb:

Gordon will not make the top ten in points (statistically still alive), so he'll have to be one of the top two drivers in wins from 11th to 20th in the standings. Right now, he'd be tied with Ryan Newman for the final spot. Kyle Busch is right behind both of them.

There are five races left before the Chase starts. Whoever wins a race first between Newman, Gordon, Busch, and Logano is likely your last man in the Chase, unless more than one wins, at which point points would dictate.

Or none of them win and points dictate.

I hope so. I like the guy. He was cheated out of three championships in the switch to the new format.

Thanks a lot Matt Kenseth. :ohno:

Well, Junior's 3 week lead atop the point standings was kind of short lived. Back to back weeks with poor finishes. What really sucked for him was last week at Pocono he was running in 2nd and after leading laps and had one of the 2 best cars along with Johnson when the 88's tranny blew. They got the tranny replaced pretty quick and Junior got back out there, but he finished 32nd 18 laps down. Was the 1st race the entire season that Jr hadn't finished every lap. Course Johnson got wrecked and Gordon won the rain delayed race so it actually worked out better for Hendrick overall as Gordon needed that win to have any chance of making the Chase.

Despite Pocono Junior maintained the points lead until yesterday. Was running top 10 at Watkins Glen with about a 1/2 doz laps left & he spun out, had to pit, and finished 28, dropping from 1st to 4th in the points.

Since there's only 4 races left before the Chase starts Junior is a virtual lock to make it. Since points will be reset based on wins then that's the only thing that matters now. The 88 Team needs to race for wins for these last 4 races. Screw points.

I like that Jr. has faced some adversity of late. The season was going a little too well.

The battle for the final spot among Edwards, Newman, Ky Busch, and Gordon is going to be interesting.

He wasn't the only one who got effed by the oil spill and lack of yellow flag. Ky Busch and Gordon got hosed too.

True there was no yellow but that had to be one of the best finishes ever.

Jeff Gordon was a whiney little bitch yesterday:

Like Dale Jarrett said, "I don't see anything wrong with what Dale Jr did there". Just watch the 1st minute and a half+

After that I didn't feel sorry for Gordon with the blown engine...

Hendrick engine dept better get their stuff together. 4 blown engines at KY-
-Johnson in practice
-Stewart (Satewart-Haas runs Hendrick engines)
-Gordon
-Johnson while leading the race with 5 laps left.

I've seen people leading the race with only a few laps left wreck, spin out, smack the wall, have a flat. But never seen someone leading blow an engine near the end of a race...

Risk of blowing an engine will be remote next week at Bristol, but the risks will increase in Atlanta in 2 weeks.
