If his 2009 and 2010 numbers don't mean anything, then neither do his 2011 numbers. My point is, a 2-1 TD to INT ratio and 3000+ per full season are pretty good numbers. Better than BLM's, who turned out pretty good.

Stats at SMU:
Padron: 446/729 (61.2%) 41TDs/21INTs, 5902 yds, 7 rushing TDs
Bo Levi: 385/676 (56.9%) 36TDs/33INTs, 4590yds, 2 rushing TDs

What happened to the high profile QB transfer Montana was supposed to get?

...and my "opinion" is that I don't think he belongs at the top of Big Sky Qb mountain just yet...He certainly may prove that he belongs there a little later in the season, tho. Roper was one of the top Qb prospects coming out of HS and was a former starter for Oregon...we all know how well that turned out for the Griz

With the exception of a couple of e-Grizzers, who said UM was supposed to get a "high profile" transfer?

Just remember people posting on here that y'all had a highly rated dual threat QB transferring to Montana pretty soon after your QB was charged.

We do have a QB who transferred from Stanford, but I don't recall any of us saying he was highly rated.

No question that Padron will have a learning curve but Baldwin (who played the position) and QB's coach Zach Hill have a proven track record, the offense is very passer friendly, and the targets are unbelievably talented.
While McGhee may be the best QB in the BSC, he's going to spend the bulk of the year running for his life behind that O-line.
I do believe that will be a determining factor of why Sorensen will produce better than McGhee throughout the season. Southern Utah's O-line is pretty stout.

Yeah, but Sorensen has no receivers or running backs.

We will be alright in the WR and RB department trust me. We have three good running backs that will be able to carry the load and potentially do even better then previous RB's have done in our offense since SUU is moving away form the throw the ball 75% of the time offense, lots of buzz around freshmen Malik Brown and Christian Taele.
At WR we have alot of young talent and some good transfers, especially Junior Griff McNabb, a transfer from Utah who has some great speed and will be huge on special teams as well. Are WR core is more balanced this year, no Tysson Poots caliber WR that we know of (yet) but all around very good, Sorensen will be perfectly fine, also am okay with being third ranked, McGhee is an amazing QB, but not sure about the Padron pick being first. :thumb:.

CHENEY - When Eastern Washington released its depth chart for their season opening visit to Idaho, Kyle Padron topped the depth chart for Beau Baldwin's offense. On Saturday the Eags' head coach confirmed that the SMU transfer will start the year under center.

Padron and freshman Vernon Adams have been the frontrunners in camp. Adams started the first scrimmage, with Padron working with the top unit in Thursday's final run-through.

Baldwin credits Padron's collegiate experience as giving him the advantage. The coach also said his skill set in the pocket is a better fit for Eastern's offense. As far as Adams goes, he is expected to get on the field this season.

I think a certain Mr. Kemp will be the ex-QB who makes the most noise on the tampon turf this year. :coffee:

I was impressed with Christian Taele, but can he do this against college players? http://vimeo.com/34629845

It'll take more than gimicky trick plays for the Griz to win this year. :thumb:

And hopefully the coaching staff will have the sense not to run the same play three times in a row. :ohno:

I think Mitchell's longest pass that day was the 69-yarder to Mike McCord.

pretty exciting stuff, with Sorensen getting a lot of preseason love and Padron coming in from SMU. should be a big season for the Big Sky, should be a few teams in the playoffs from this conference for sure.
