Out of hand? ... Or a reality?

Post by dgreco »

Are the Missouri State police just going overboard with this? Or are the threat of militia's rising a real concern for state and municipal police all over the country?

It's an informative piece that I think is meant to simply inform LEAs about what has been and what is out there...

I worked in anti-terrorism in the late 90's up to 2002...this was typical of our training aids...

It's like the anti-gang units in metro police department that gather info on gang tats and markings...

BE AWARE, or BEWARE is the thought process...

I got no problem with it...

Maybe somewhat of a concern, but I see a few problems with how they are portrayed. As much as "anti-hate" groups like the ADL try to lump the skinheads and the militias into being the same thing, there is a difference. Militias care about the constitution and are concerned about police state. Skinheads are socialists with an extreme racial victim mentality. The militia have had some black leaders, but the skinheads would never accept a black leader if he sympathized with them and was the most charismatic and cunning leader the world has ever seen.

Another big problem was at the very beggining of that paper where it says militia groups have a problem with "minority and female empowerment" of the 60s and 70s. Please  . As if the JFK assassination, the Vietnam war, the USS Liberty incident, the encroachment of the UN on national sovereignty, Ruby Ridge, and Waco had nothing to do with it.

If you take the hate groups out of the equation, why should we fear a militia? They seem like a good thing to have around.

I never thought of militia as being anti-american, but I was a little thrownback by the way they were portrayed in this piece, which made it very interesting to me.

I did find it interesting since this a month old, but they had the information about the 6 new unions or the NAU. I know it is mostly consipracy theory type of information, but I was surprised to see it make it into the piece. I feel like that information was thrown under the bus about 3 months ago. Is it still really talked about? Or was it just thrown in there?
