Most Surprising Result: Holy Cross 17, (#14) New Hampshire 38 - Apparently I was overrating the Crusaders, because I expected this game to be much closer.
My biggest surprise was how easily YSU handled Pitt. I expected UNI to do well against the Badgers. UNI defense is good against the run and Wisconsin had 14 new starters plus Ball had missed some time due to an assault. Cal Poly was a kicker away from beating Wisconsin a couple years ago. UNI found a weakness in the Wisconsin defense, going at a guy that had off-season surgery and hamstring issues in fall practice. Still a great performance by UNI, but the Mighty Penguins I thought had a better performance.
I would argue YSU deserved either best performance or most surprising performance. I was not surprised they won, I was surprised how dominant they were.

I was 50/50 on that decision, but I thought nearly beating a #12 FBS team was a tiny bit more impressive & unusual than a 14-point win over an average-at-best FBS team (which is about the equivalent of beating an FCS top-10 or so).
I also wasn't shocked that YSU beat Pitt (I thought that game would be close) while I also figured UNI would drop a bit from last year after losing Rennie, so that near upset was a bit more surprising to me.

Yeah, and JMU put up 602 on another NEC team. If JMU didn't start pulling starters in the 3rd, would have surpassed ODU's 723. JMU's starting defense had yielded 72 yards till about 2/3 rd of the way through 3rd qtr when inserted a mix of 2nd and 3rd string on defense and later all 3rd string (SFU ended with 155 yds).

That was kinda my point - it didn't come across that Lehigh backdoored into the "best performance" award.
They dominated a team that will be transition to FBS. Great win IMHO
So it's just a label thing? And a label they don't even have yet? Georgia State will be winless this year in the CAA and I think getting to within double digits with anyone in conference will be a success. West Chester is a 3 point favorite against Georgia State right now.
