NAU vs Griz
I am gonna make the game this weekend. I am headed to Boise on Wednesday to do some work, catch BYU vs BSU on Thursday night and then get in the car and head to Missoula on Friday, hopefully early in the morning. I hope to catch a few people there. If anyone has a line on some tickets, I am looking for 2 of them.

My boss Mrs. Lumberg decided to bestow us with the privilege of working next Saturday, so I'll have to settle for gametracker for this one.
I say Griz win this one by ten.

The Griz by 35; at least.
NAU coming off a slaughter against Fort Lewis, delusions of grandeur abound; ending up like they did against Arizona State.

Re: NAU vs Griz
If NAU have their Qb and Rb then I see this as being one of those close heart-breaker games for NAU. It'll be interesting to see if Montana can defend the pass against a Big Sky team.

Does Mrs. Lumberg know that the Griz are playing a game....a home game....a homecoming game...a game against Mr. Souers this upcoming Saturday? If she doesn't understand that you need to close down and come to Missoula to support the team, burn that fucker to the ground on Thursday....3 day weekend!!!Grizalltheway wrote:My boss Mrs. Lumberg decided to bestow us with the privilege of working next Saturday, so I'll have to settle for gametracker for this one.

My previous post was just a joke and not to be taken with any seriousness. I was just copying what I saw in a movie this one time and it is not to be acted upon. That would be irresponsible and dangerous, not to mention felonious.Grizalltheway wrote:I like the way you think.grizzaholic wrote:

Please don't sue me, my lawyer is currently serving time in the pokey for some...I have already said too much. Just don't sue me.

This is NAU's year.
First FBS win in 25 years.
Jerome finally beat a Montana coach.
NAU has been oh so close last few years.
This is the year it gets done.

seconded by screaming eagle.... Speaking of dillusional . You guys are actually by definition insane if you think the Griz are going whoop NAU like ASU did. I say this with all sincerity because it is my profession. Not insanity but the diagnosis of insanity and in particular OCD patients. The clinical definition of obsession is the domination of one's thoughts or feelings by a persistent idea, image, desire, etc. I hate to break it to you both but you are clinically obsessed with an unrealistic, grandeous image of the Grizz. Grandiose meaning in this case overblown and pompous.

Re: The raping of football in Montana
80 rapes have been reported in Missoula over the past three years, at least 11 involving students, including football players more than ANY OTHER UNIVERSITY for that size. The NCAA opened Pandoras box with the Penn State punishment and both the NCAA and the Justice Department are taking a continuing long look at Montana Football. In the Montana case, head coach Robin Pflugrad disciplined several players but didn’t report the incidents to his superiors. Gang rape is the same kind of repugnant crime that pedohilia is. The program will be under the same scrunity and punishment as Penn State and so it should. So on College Football Saturday do parents whose children have been abused by Jerry Sandusky cheer against Penn State even though those football players didn't abuse children? And by the same measurement do you think the women that have been raped root against Montana even though the rapists no longer play football? There is something sad but satisfying in both programs losing. perhaps the rape culture is pervassive on Montana football because they think they are mightier than God and can get away with it and perhaps because that rape culture pervades society in Missoula when A Missoula man convicted of raping two 14-year-old girls when he was 21 will spend only 90 days in the Missoula County jail.
There’s a lot of awful stuff here: A police chief who told a woman, who had run straight to the precinct after being assaulted, that “most rape reports are false.” A county attorney who seemed more worried that filing charges would “ruin [the accused assailant's] life” than any semblance of justice for the victim. A university president who responded to two on-campus assaults by writing an editorial imploring students to “take responsibility for your personal well-being.”
But while the worst behavior by local authorities in Missoula can hopefully be addressed by the DOJ investigation, it’s the other stuff that’s most disturbing. The guy who says, “I mean, the guy was definitely pushing too hard, but is that rape?” (Hint: Yes, it mostly clearly is.) The students who are convinced that women who say they’ve been raped are just lying for “attention” or to excuse the “stupid stuff” they did the night before. The girl who insists, “I’m not saying they’re not rapists. But the girls help it along.”
So there are lots who will not be rooting for the Grizz on Saturday and it has nothing to do with football.

Uh, Jack, do you not realize that much of the controversy in Missoula is at the instigation of a reporter with a vendetta against athletes and a track record of pulling such crap at every paper at which she has worked?
SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.
Re: NAU vs Griz
Pretty sure there will be a rape on Saturday, but on the field.

Forcible Rape
Missoula - 28
Flagstaff - 43
So I guess you could cherry pick news you know nothing about to fuel your football rivalry hatred, or you could—I don't know—try to actually enjoy the game.
Re: NAU vs Griz
This game hasn't recently been the gimmie Griz win it was for so many years. Four of the last five have been tight contests. I guess NAU's job is to curl up into the fetal position at the sight of Washington Grizzly Stadium, though. Something....something...loud. (even though it's only mid-September) Something...something...cold.
Smart-assery aside, the U of M has an amazing streak going. I don't deny this. Props are given where deserved. But streaks, like everything else in this world, eventually end. NAU has a shot in this one. I don't often bet against the Griz at home but you never know what can happen?

Re: NAU vs Griz
Jackparty - NAU has it's own dirty past secrets version of "Football players gone wild" in the mid to late 90s. It was ugly and unfortunate and I don't wish that on any football program. I will throw no stones at the Griz glass house. It does seem that Gwen Florio had a vendetta of some sort but at the same time, there were enough Griz players making the headlines for the wrong reasons that it was time for the University/city (and whether Griz fans like it or not...the local Missoulian newspaper) to do something about it. There are two sides to this story and I think the truth in Missoula is somewhere in the middle.

Re: NAU vs Griz
I don't think anyone seriously thinks this will be a beatdown (I made a big reach picking NAU as a playoff team, for those that recall), but the 'Jacks always find a way to choke against the Griz.mtjack wrote:This game hasn't recently been the gimmie Griz win it was for so many years. Go Jacks!
2001 - Both went to the playoffs, but NAU fell behind 38-0 before a futile rally made things look decent
2003 - NAU actually favored, loses by 38
2007 - 'Jacks still have playoff hopes, lose at home by 5
2008 - Lumberjacks start 6-1, then lose to Weber & Montana by a combined 63 points
2009 - Herrick picked off in the endzone in OT
2010 - Griz WR CJ Atkins makes miracle catch with 5 seconds left
2011 - NAU blows lead, then regains lead, then can't get it done late
Re: NAU vs Griz
Oops, quadruple post.
Mvem - Your recent series summary is making my head spin before I go to sleep. The Jacks grasped defeat from the jaws of victory a few times. Horse sh** luck for the Jacks at the end of of the 2009 and 2010 games. I'll hand it to the Griz for finding ways to win games that they don't always statistically dominate.

Re: NAU vs Griz
It is little wonder that rape is one of the least reported crimes not onl;y in Missoula but on every College campus. Perhaps it is the only crime in which the victim becomes the accused, and in reality it is the victim that must prove their innocence.
And so it is with playing the Griz. No Griz fan or closet Griz fan gives teams that play them a chance. ( refer back to my previous clinical quote about dillusion)
The only "rape" that will be taking place on Saturday Willy will be happenning outside the stadium.
There is no "innocence" in football and there will be none Saturday. It will be a tough, physical game. Which isn't a crime. In fact I suspect it will be a great game and to be sure I will be enjoying it from the stands.

For fuck sakes JackParty, there are plenty of “UM Rape” threads somewhere on this site as well as eGrizz. Please find them and post this stuff there and please don’t turn this thread into one of those.
