Unbelievable. I hope everyone takes a look at egriz since their lose at home to NAU yesterday. So far the top excuses and no, I'm not making this up. Go ahead and look for yourself. So far here are my favorites.
1. The smoke from the forrest fires are causing the Griz players to breath in bad air. Only the Griz are having problems breathing.
2. Fans emptying out at half-time for tailgating weren't back in their seats by the start of the 3rd QT and the Lumberjacks scored most of their points during this period.
3. If we didn't have 5 turnovers we would won the game.
Egriz is the best thing to read on the internet after they lose. Quality reading and you can find comedy and tragedy.

I'm with you until the 5 turnovers part. Who wins when they commit 5 turnovers?

The first two are obviously dumb excuses. #3 is true though.

Team message boards are always pretty funny after losing a game that maybe should have been won. PSU message boards were lit up last night with people saying Burton should fire himself next.

NAU was stuffing the Griz in the second half, and running the ball down their throats. The game would've been closer and NAU would have had longer fields to drive down, but that's complete homerism to say the Griz would have won for sure.

Obviously nobody knows what would have happened for sure if the turnovers didn't occur. However being that NAU won by only 10 points I would bet that the Griz would have won if they hadn't turned it over. Had it been a huge blowout, like a 30 point victory or something, I wouldn't believe the same thing. But 5 turnovers and 10 points is pretty close to saying it would have gone the other way.

Why use turnovers as an excuse? Elite teams (many griz fans will always say the Griz are elite) don't have 5 turnovers in a conference game.

I didn't say they were elite. I simply said if they hadn't committed those turnovers they probably would have won. Plus it's not an excuse. Just a reason. You can say Team A won because they ran the ball better or Team B won because they rushed the passer better. In this case, the reason was turnovers.

I know you don't, but many Griz fans do consider the Griz elite. I can see your point, and who knows what would have happened without the turnovers. Maybe it was the NAU coverage? My point is to stop using it as an excuse and move on. The Jacks were the better team that day.

I agree completely. At halftime I figured a Griz win was a lock. The Jacks proved they don't give up and they are a tough team. The dominated the second half.

Except that it was really a 17 point game. Griz got a garbage time TD when I'm sure NAU was playing soft coverage. In a closer game, I'm sure NAU continues their pressure. Don't forget that NAU gave the Griz 7 points off of turnover (essentially) with the blocked punt.
Pathetic. Dude's own team is so consistently terrible that he has to resort to trolling another team's board after a loss to find any sort of football related satisfaction.

I believe every time one of us mentioned that the last TD EWU scored two years ago didn't count you would argue.

Actually that board is hilarious whenever you guys lose. It's shit you can't even make up.

Wrong. The TD itself didn't affect the outcome of the game, but it certainly counted.

UM had 5 turnovers, and NAU had 0--and UM lost by 10. 4 turnovers in 5 drives, and 5 turnovers in 8 drives.
NAU got the ball on the NAU 43, and the UM 20, 22, 24 and 50.
NAU deserved to win the game, clobbered UM in the last 2.5 quarters, and it was UM's fault that it had so many turnovers, but to say the 5 turnovers didn't significantly influence the game is completely ridiculous.

A blocked punt is a turnover.
And does it occur to all the rocket scientists there blaming the 5 turnovers that maybe, just maybe, NAU's defense CAUSED the turnovers?
