Basically the 2 wild card sports come down to these 7 drivers over the last 3 races of the regular season:
11. (--) Kasey Kahne..........694/1 win (-36 pts from 10th place)
12. (--) Carl Edwards.........689 (-41)
13. (--) Ryan Newman........680/1 win (-50)
14. (--) Kyle Bush.............669/1 win (-61)
16. (-1) Jeff Gordon..........650/1 win (-80)
17. (--) Marcos Ambrose.....639/1 win (-91)
18. (--) Joey Logano..........600/1 win (-130)

-Kahne, Newman and Busch could get in without winning another race.
-Edwards will highly likely have to win a race to get in.
-Gordon will highly likely have to win a 2nd race to get in.
-Logano and Ambrose will absolutely have to win a 2nd race to get in.

Rooting for Jr. of course. My dad and I came to agreement that if Jr. is within 15 points of the lead going into the final race, we are flying to Miami to attend. :thumb:

Gordon has been the best driver the past month - he has a nothing to lose attitude right now, I say he takes the whole enchilada this fall.

Jimmie Johnson on the pole at Chicago. Dale Jr. qualified 7th but will start last due to an engine change. Ugh.

Beautiful day here at Dover. Got to see Brian Dawkins doing the Grand Marshall honors. Jr got hosed when a caution came out just as he was entering his pit box. He rolled through and, as I write, just passed Ryan Newman to move into the lucky dog. Ky Busch is the class of the field so far.

Six cars finished on the lead lap...7-10 were 1 lap down, everyone else was 2 or more.

What a BORING race.

Side note: regarding attendance, I firmly believe that Dover having two races hurts them. If Dover just had the summer race, guarantee it would sell out.

<80,000 attendance isn't cutting it. Especially after they lowered the capacity to 120k. :-?

Actually, I've sat through boring races at Dover. This one wasn't boring. The reason so many people were lapped was due to a caution during the first round of green flag pit stops. I think only about ten drivers were still out when that happened. It was real shit luck for Jr, among many others.

Keselowski winning was a surprise. Really thought it would be 18, 11, or 48.

Scary side note: Before the race started, I heard a loud noise to my left. An older gentleman had done a face plant in the aisle. His cooler fell open and full beer cans were rolling down the stands. At first we assumed he was just wasted, but he didn't react to the fall and started convulsing. The crowd started waving and calling for EMT and my uncle called 911. It took forever (in actuality prolly 5 min) to get an EMT up to row 46 start/finish line. The guy stopped convulsing and was unconscious and still. We figured him for dead. I'm not a good Christian, but I gave him the best prayer I could. As more and more EMTs showed up, I couldn't see exactly what was happening, but it looked like they pulled out a defibrillator. Next thing I know, they sit the guy up and he's alert. They walked him down to a waiting ambulance.

Whew. The EMTs got a round of applause. :notworthy:

Did he pick up his beers for the ride to the hospital?

I think the beers were probably spoken for before the man was resuscitated.

Dale Jr's championship hopes are officially over. He will sit out two races due to a concussion sustained at Talladega. Regan Smith will drive his car, but the points won't count.

I will save my personal opinion about this.

That was a crazy finish and Jr wasn't shy about speaking his mind afterwards. Would seem that his words carry a little more weight now.

Glad to see 24 get another second. He effed up a couple times in that race.

Crazy thing is he didn't make up much ground in points, just passed a bunch of other drivers. Although that's almost as important because then you need less people to screw up.

I'm fine with Gordon winning another. Gordon has been cheated out of three championships so far in the switch to the Chase format.
