I dont know about ALL THAT! But...... Eags by 14.LDopaPDX wrote:Montana State got kinda lucky when the QB misread the DT and threw the INT to the defensive linemen.
Montana State plays almost indentical in philosophy to Eastern 2010 championship team. They play down to the level of their opponent and don't know how to blow a team out... even when they should.
That said, head-up would be very hard for me to pick Eastern over the Bobcats next week. I think Eastern will move the ball fairly well, but I'm not sure the Eagle D will come up with enough stops. Plus, cold weather and high altitude are hard enough to overcome, but Montana officiating and 20,000 S'Cat fans will make it even tougher.
Certainly, Eastern *can* win this game, and talent-wise, I think EWU might even have an edge. But I still have a lot of questions about Eastern's toughness. It'll take a near-perfect showing for the Eagles to win.

Davis is better than you think. Their 3 FCS losses have come against top 25 teams. They loss on the road to South Dakota State by 4 and Cal Poly by 8. At home they gave the #2 team all they could handle losing by 7. Any team left on their schedule that looks only at their record and think they will have an easy win will be in for a big surprise.SDHornet wrote:SoCalAg wrote: The better team won tonight, but if MSU is the #2 team in the country, then Davis is definitely top-25

If I remember right that same DT did that to BLM in '10 and returned it 40+ yards for a TDLDopaPDX wrote:Montana State got kinda lucky when the QB misread the DT and threw the INT to the defensive linemen.

Quit making excuses, the same thing happened in all of our losses. Taking care of the ball is part of playing good football.cats2506 wrote:SloStang wrote: Davis is better than you think. Don't forget that the their defense forced those turn overs. I also remember MSU also benefitted from two huge INTs.cats2506 wrote:SloStang wrote: Davis is better than you think. Yup we got 14 points from short fields, they got a lot more. I think the point is that the Cats played a sloppy game and still beat a good team on the road at a place we had never been before.SloStang wrote:Don't forget that the their defense forced those turn overs. True. My point is that Davis is better than most are giving them credit for (people who only look at their record).cats2506 wrote:Yup we got 14 points from short fields, they got a lot more. Oh I still give UCD lots of credit, they had a good game plan and didnt give up, they threw some stuff at the Cats that we had not seen this year and it worked for awhile, their QB hung in there and made plays time after time. UCD is a solid team no doubt they will win some games this year.SloStang wrote:True. Kinda like how the griz gave the game up to the Cats in Missoula in 2010, huh? Cuts both ways. Seems like there were plenty of "excuses" after that game. Only difference is Cats don't have to make excuses for a win.Grizalltheway wrote:Quit making excuses, the same thing happened in all of our losses. Yeah, 'cause the cat's win so often, especially in the playoffs.kittiekop wrote:Kinda like how the griz gave the game up to the Cats in Missoula in 2010, huh? Cuts both ways. UC Davis lost to three ranked FCS teams by 4, 8 and 7 points. They did not make my top 25 and won't until they have a winning record but they are a good team with a somewhat inconsistent QB. After this week I did drop MSU down in my poll - they made a lot of errors and I expected them to totally dominate the Aggies - didn't happen.

^^^ That is pretty much the response we got in 2010 when we lost a lot of close ones to ranked teams. Sorry but the close loss argument doesn't garner much validity on these boards. I guess it's something cal davis and their fans will have to learn this season. It is what it is and people can argue either way, but at the end of the day a loss is a loss.
As far as the game goes, it sounds like cal davis snatched defeat from the jaws of victory and MSU was able to get a win on the road against a scrappy team. Good teams find ways to win, and bad one's find ways to lose...at least that's one of the things I always heard in our close losses over the years.

e-griz has some threads on "Quality Losses" this year
He can mark us down if he wants I dont really care, but a win on the road in the Big Sky is a win period and the newbies will learn that eventually, style points mean nothing.

Absolutely agree. The Aggies used to have the killer instinct - not so much now.
