On many levels yes. But on our dependency on foreign oil he was spot on while the conks spent the next 30 years ignoring the warning signs. And that's a pretty big damn deal.89Hen wrote:Stick with the point. Do you think Carter wasn't a failure?kalm wrote:

He was right about conservation...Paul Volker was a good pick...he seems to have run a fairly clean administration compared to the administrations before and after him...don't make me bust out wikipedia to find more.89Hen wrote:So he gets one thing right in theory.kalm wrote:

And you won't give him any credit whatsoever for it, because you're a bitter partisan hack.89Hen wrote:So he gets one thing right in theory.kalm wrote:

Do you give him any credit for the release of the hostages in Iran? Just to jog your memory, they were finally released during (or right after) Regans inauguration address on January 20, 1980. I think Carter is unfairly left out of this. He released the gold for Iran to fund their war against Iraq and the hostages were on the plane (i think twice) to be released. The Algerians were holding up the successful release of the hostages in many cases once a deal had been reached.89Hen wrote:So he gets one thing right in theory.kalm wrote:
