Actually, it's pretty much tied at this point. If it's still tied on election day, Romney will win pretty significantly since, historically, 75% of the so-called "undecided voters" always go against the incumbent.

That's true. Obama isn't claiming HE's reduced the horse and bayonet use(that'd be FDR) but he is making a point about the changing nature of war and our defense needs.

Since the 1940's we've had a fully mechanized Calvary. Having said that, American forces have used horses in Afghanistan for transportation through the mountains. They may be used for patrol or recon, but the number is so small.
