Well, for me, that would depend on just who the D-II team is. I think that a perennial D-II power would have to be treated just a bit differently than a D-II also-ran or bottom-feeder.
Of course, one would have to be a complete moron to schedule Grand Valley....
It's because of that guideline the playoff committee uses whereby they want you to have 7 division I wins. I don't like it. It means you get more credit for beating Savannah State than you do for beating, say, Northwest Missouri State when everybody knows that Northwest Missouri State could name its score against Savannah State. But it is what it is.
Kind of a shame too. I'd love to see games between top Division II teams and top FCS teams. I think they're interesting. But the NCAA committee's stance discourages that.

Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth

UNC fans you can lament all you want about who was missing from your lineup who but an L is an L.
NAU was just as banged up. Lots of kids playing injured.NAU was missing their top TE and WR and a top OLineman but I never used that as an excuse as to why Zack only got 92 yards and why our offense was awful.
We had an off game and UNC came to play. Props but NAU is NOT only 2 points better than UNC. Just sayin....
That was a classic trap game for us. The environment at Nottingham field is not what I would call an intense football atmosphere. Only 3000+ in the stands and the NAU fans were just as loud. You would have to be dead not to get up for a game at Griz stadium. Not at Greeley.
On any given day applies in the Big Sky you better come ready to play I don't care who you are. That was a tough loss for UNC but keep grinding Bears.

Yeah, eight years without a winning season will hurt any fan base. It certainly has with ours. I'm not using injuries as an excuse. I'm just saying we gave that game away. Btw, I didn't see or hear anything from NAU fans.

I hear ya. It takes time to build a program and I can attest that winning definitely makes a huge difference. It has already had an effect at NAU; Larger tailgating, huge town and alumni support, better recruiting, more fans traveling with the team, basically respect.
I was really impressed with how hard your team played yesterday.

You're really giving the NAU defense credit for that safety? Come on, that was UNC's long snapper being terrible and you know it. Not to mention we had 2 turnovers and 75 penalty yards of our own and were missing the best two players from our front seven, including an All-American linebacker.
ya youre right, you guys won the game . let me just give the big sky a call and see if we can work this out for ya buddy.
I'm not saying we won the game, I'm saying we deserve a little more credit than we're getting for actualyl showing up and playing well (except for our long snapper, that is.)

No. I hate losing. NAU is a very good team. However, I'm proud of UNC for hanging in the game. We're decimated with injuries (like many teams). We're playing without two all-americans and 4 starters on defense were out with injuries. Baumen has been chewing defenses up and we held him to under 100 yards. But you're right, it's still a L in column.
great moral victory, keep patting yourself on the back. and your defense was especially goood on that last drive when it mattered.

Okay frat boy. If that's what you really believe, you're dumber than I thought. "Dude."

some unc fan gettin a lil angry? you guys won the game. im on your side. your two all americans and 4 starters would have changed the game. i understand you thought you were gonna win the big sky after beating isu, but thats just not how it works. go bears
Alright campers...it's getting a bit testy around here.
I preface these comments by saying I was not able to watch or listen to the game and kept updated by following live stats on the internet.
NAU escaped with a win. I have no problem admitting that. UNC showed a lot of gumption and were not the pushovers a few fans expected. I give them credit where it is due. But...NAU found a way to win a game that, in many years past, they would have found a way to lose. The Jacks made plays at the end when it mattered and escaped with a tough fought Big Sky Conference road win.
I know injuries are an issue right now but at this point in the season that's the case with the majority of teams. A lot of things to clean up before next week @ ISU. The Bengals are having a season to forget but have an offense that puts up yards and points. I am surprised by nothing in this league. No room to sleep on any of the last three teams the Jacks play. Come out like that again and they'll close the season with three losses.
UNC fans...stick with your team through the dark days. NAU has had a lot of those in the past. It's worth it when things finally turn around for a bit. Good luck!

We've all been playing for 8-9 weeks so far so everyone is dealing with key personnel injured or nicked up or whatever. It's extremely difficult to get to this point in the season as healthy as a team was in week 1 or 2.
As for the Bengals, they just want to end the season and go home. Jacks should have no problem with them. What would be surprising is if you guys don't hang at least 50 on them, too.

I'm not sure I'd want to go there during the regular season. I wouldn't mind scheduling a D-II patsie for homecoming. But playing a top tier D-II like Grand Valley or or NW MO should be reserved for a champion-vs.-champion scenario after the season, perhaps for charity. Maybe even a playoff involving the FCS, D-II, D-III, and NAIA champions. Getting NDSU, Grand Valley, Mount Union, and Carroll together would be pretty interesting. Set it up like a bowling TV final: NAIA vs. D-III, winner plays D-II, that winner plays FCS. I think that would be kinda fun, especially if the proceeds went to charity. Of course, the NCAA would NEVER go for a scenario where the money went anywhere OTHER than the NCAA....
SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

I agree. The commitee should look at the quality of the schedule and not get hung up on what level the teams play. Beating a good D-II team should be worth more than beating a crappy FCS team.

hey i had to stand up for my team. this bozo came home after seeing his first football game ever and decided to get on and say his bears are better than my jacks. and i think it is very possible for us to lose the next three games. each game is a challenge and every opponent is tough in the big sky. i woul be thrilled winning two out of the next three. souers has to let these guys know we have a lot of work to do if we want the big sky title. we canot afford to play like we did against the bears. go jacks

Frat boy, go ahead and prove that I said UNC is better than NAU. Or are you just making crap up? I can't take anyone with the name "dude" in his or her screen name. It's a good thing most NAU fans aren't like you. As I mentioned before, NAU is my 2nd favorite conference team. My sister-in-law graduated from NAU (although she has become an ASU fan). I even have an NAU t-shirt I wear on occasion.
Douche usually refers to vaginal irrigation, the rinsing of the vagina, but it can also refer to the rinsing of any body cavity. A douche bag is a piece of equipment for douching—a bag for holding the fluid used in douching.
